Hell yeah, a destination wedding is the way to go! I just stood up in my best friends wedding. She had the big, traditional wedding with 300 guests, a 20 person bridal party and TONS of drama!!!! The drama actually started about a month after she got engaged, fun stuff, huh? i sat with her through tears and arguments with her fiance and both of their families and wouldn't put myself through that in a million years. Plus the 30k that they spent could have went towards something WAY better than a wedding. And, the bride & groom didn't even get to enjoy the reception, they spent the majority of the night going from table to table talking to people and by the time they were done, the reception was almost over. I'd take 10 grand, fly my family and close friends to Vegas for a weekend and have a small, intimate reception at a fabulous hotel and then party like rock stars the rest of the time!

I got married in Las Vegas. It was always a dream of mine. I had a terribly tasteful wedding, and yes, I love Elvis and I had an impersonator come in to sing a few songs. I got married at the drive in place...but I chose not to drive through, I had a chapel. It was unique and intimate.
I had a traditional wedding the following year for my family, but I far enjoyed Las Vegas much more.
You can do it cheap, or expensive. People always mistake Vegas for being cheesy or cheap, but some of those weddings can get up to the same prices you would have spent if you stayed at home.

I'm getting married in Vegas. Some of the higher end hotels have amazing chapels and options for receptions!
I live in "The OC" and haven't found anything as stunning as what Vegas has to offer plus we'll be saving about $20,000.00 and everyone gets a trip to Vegas! I'm still getting the beautiful dress and he's wearing a tux, we just aren't going to waste all the extra $$ here in Orange County. You can still have a beautiful traditional wedding at places like "The Montelago Resort" located 20-30 minutes away from the strip. That place is amazing! Caesars Palace also has some breathtaking outside locations for the ceremony. The MGM has a great 2 story suite with a large patio which can accomodate 60 people for a smaller reception. For those of you who dismiss Vegas weddings with out researching it...take a look!!! They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but my wedding will be unforgetable and talked about for years to come!

Vegas has changed throughout the years ... you can have any type of wedding there ... just depends on how much money you have ... !
It's cheap & cheesy to elope and get married in one of those chapels ... without family and friends there to share the moment with you and your new wife/husband .. at least that's the way I look at it.
You can have a traditional wedding, a crazy wild wedding, theme weddings, you name it ... Vegas does it ... !
I wouldn't mind getting married in Vegas ... only if it was well thought out and more of the "traditional" style ... and my family and friends were there too ... !

Absolutely!Vegas being cheap and cheesy is a myth. Vegas provides more customized and unique wedding options all in one place. You can have waterfalls, the Grand Canyon, a garden, a chapel, a lake, and much more.
I wanted something different, but still close to traditional, so we spent a little more on a poolside wedding at the Flamingo. Another plus is that our friends and family get a mini vacation!

I think most brides think about eloping at some point bc their family is driving them crazy!! I think Vegas weddings are great and have the potential to be very similar to a traditional wedding of you go to a nice hotel and not a drive through chapel.
(I am married and I had a traditional wedding and I'm glad, but I would have been just fine with any other style)

I do want a traditional wedding, but if it meant marrying my boyfriend now, I don't have the money, so yeah I would get married in Vegas. I would just renew my vows in 10 yrs or so and have the big traditional wedding. The bottom line is, if you truly love the person, it should't matter where and how it happens.

I would prefer an outdoor or garden wedding. Las Vegas wedding doesn't seem too serious enough for me and yeah, it looks kinda cheap. Marriage to me is a more sacred thing, and if I wanna do it, I wanna do it right. I don't expect something too costly, but it just has to feel right. That's what important. Of course, my partner would have to be someone of the same thought as me too, otherwise, one of us won't be too happy.

Hi, my fiance and I are getting married in Vegas, and are travelling from Ireland to do it. I dont think it's cheesy, (at least i hope it wont be!!), my fiance has been over there once and loved it and our family and some of our friends will come over too. Just not doing the Elvis thing, we've chosen a nice chapel and the Venetian for a meal afterwards, hopefully it'll be a great holiday for us and our family and friends, one we'll all remember forever

I would prefer the traditional wedding, but after all the planning and money, sometimes I would just rather go to Vegas. I could still be sweet and romantic.
