You have three light switches. Only ONE of the switches turns on the light in the room across the house and the other two aren't hooked up to anything. You only get one trip to the room across the house. How do you figure it out?
~ We'll see if anyone gets it, if not then I'll add some more hints ~

A few of you are on the right track!
A few things to think about and keep in mind:
*You are alone, no one can help you figure out which switch works
*Turning all three on at the same time will turn on the light, but then how do you know which of the three switches worked?
*You can flip as many or few switches at a time as you like
~Does that help any?~

Yes, the three switches are together, and the room is across the house from where you are standing (with the switches)

You switch on the first switch, wait ten minutes then switch it off. Then you switch on the second switch and go to the room.
If the light is on, the second switch is the correct one.
If the light is off and the bulb is hot, it's the first switch.
If the light is off and the bulb is cold, it's the last switch.

Go to the other room.
If the light is on, do nothing.
If the light is off, go back to the switches and flip all of them to the other position.
You didn't say I had to only change one switch at a time.

You didn't say where the switches were, so I'll say go to the room, then use the switch in there.

you didn't say that we were only allowed to turn on only one switch at a time, so i'd turn on all three switches....bet that's not the answer you're looking for, but i found a loophole....

Flip the right one. If it is still dark then deal with it or find a place to live that isnt an electrical deathtrap.

this is a little confusing, but I guess you would flip all three. Are they all 3 in the same spot?
