Would you ever date an Atheist? What about marrying one? What about having kids with one?

Why or why not?

For those that care, I'm Atheist. I just asked the question bc I've known christian girls in the past that wouldn't date/etc.... Atheists. Just wanted to see if it was a more widespread thing or not.

I would probably date an atheist--building relationships is a human desire and need--but I don't think I'd ever end up marrying one because we probably won't share the same values that we would want to instill in our kids.

I want to also note a person of faith (any faith) marrying an atheist is different from people of different faiths marrying (eg my Jewish friend who married his Catholic wife) because religion usually has similar principles from which we base our beliefs.

I believe everyone is intitled to his opinions or beliefs but I personally would never marry an atheist because there would always be that conflict in our marriage.

I dated an athiest, married him and had a child with him, all the while not knowing he was an athiest. Had I known I would have done things differently.

before i got married (to another of the same faith) i dated a guy who lived like there was no god and i broke up with him after a year because i started thinking about having kids with him, and not praying for their boo-boos and having something more grounded than an explosion of atoms for our purpose in life. after that i decided i would only date guys with same faith.

I don't know any atheists who would consider marrying a christian. So your question is moot.

I personally wouldn't want to marry someone who doesn't share the same faith that i have. I see it like this, a KKK member wouldn't marry someone who is Afro-America, Hispanic, Jewish etc...
But that doesn't mean that HATE someone who doesn't share my believes.

It says so in the bible not be unequally yoked. And i'm going to follow that rule because i dont want a nonbeliever to drag me down with him.
