the REASON I ask is that our rescue dog came with information that she is that mix and I just don't see it. She's mottled black with a white chest and only 50 pounds. She's muscular, but not big and square.

I have seen several over the years and they usually look like a rottie on steroids. They are much more blocked up than a pure rottweiler and their head is very square. A rottie has a block shape to him already but this mix makes it more pronounced.
Also the coloring is somewhat off from a pure rottie. The black and tan is dominant but with a pitbull mix you will have a lot of mottling or white marks that aren't normally there.

Most likely black & tan markings, with a shorter nose than a rott. Smaller body, as well, but the head structure is very similar on both dogs. Should be a nice mix, as both dogs are HIGHLY trainable and very friendly when socialized properly.
Rotts are my favorite, by the by. :-)

Can`t understand why you ask others to tell you, when all you need to do is to look at your dog. Can only imagine that it must be quite powerful.
