Why would someone choose to believe in a God who *loves* them so much that he sent his son to *die* for their sins?
Should have posted it as a question, I guess, but that would cost 5 instead of making 2..... and it does answer yours......

If I invented a God who sent 4 of her sons and daughters to die to stop Cerberus, the three headed dog that rules the underworld from torturing the souls of the damned in the river of blood, why would you choose to reject her?
Your answer to my question is my answer to yours.

God has his son killed? For my sins? But didn't you guys just tell me that the son, who died, was ALSO god in another form - and that he lives forever?. So in a sense he had himself killed, but always lived, for my sins. Are you sure this was Plan A? Do you have an Advil?

Because there is no God, therefore no son to die for anyone. Why not worry instead about being a good Christian by taking a vow of silence and of poverty.

And to what proof do you make that statement? The hearsay written in the Bible told by people who heard it from someone else and did not witness it first hand? You have no proof for that other than what you read in the Bible and that book is really questionable.

Well, for one, I find it a hard tale to swallow that this all loving God would send his only Son to die for mankind to save them from teh wrath of.....this same God. Seems sensless...
And, BTW, you forget that out of the two of us, youre the only one that actually beleives this.....

1) Cause he isn't real
2) That whole thing is one big walking contradiction (ie Jesus son of God = Jesus was a demi-God = Polythesistic Religion = BAD in christianity)
3) *IF* he was - I'd still burn in hell for not believing in him despite being a good person = not a loving God at all

Because we don't believe that anyone died for our "sins". It is a load of crap to me, and some christians just can't fathom the idea of someone not believing.

The amount of answers that show such simple knowledge of scripture is kinda sad. The supposed presentations here of contradiction and/or paradox are well... pathetic. Try thinking beyond the obvious people.... please.
