Ok here's the thing. You don't want the scabs to fall off to early...they are protecting the open wounds of the tonsillectomy incision sites. Make sure you keep drinking fluids and eating very soft foods...that will make it better. What you might be feeling is the fact that your throat is dry and it is making it very uncomfortable for you.

I had my tonsils out in Nov and it was nasty for 2-3 weeks...don't worry, it will get better.

You need to eat crisps and crusty bread, and things like that to take the scabs away. The days of eating ice cream after a tonsillectomy are long gone.

It will come of on it's own with time, don't mess with it because it could get infected. Obviously you can still breathe it may not be comfortable but it's happening, and it's not so bad to take a break from talking for a few days, your doc probably told you to rest your voice.

If it's hard to breathe, call your doctor and ask. Generally, you aren't supposed to pick and remove scabs because its protecting the area from infection. Call the doctor and ask for their advise, then have mom or dad help you further.

Gargle with Salt Water. Don't try to take the scabs off. They will just bleed and scab over again.
