It is probably the only way your capabilities get acknowledged by the world. I don't know if this is good or bad. Letting you be acknowledged is good, but being the only official way to do it, is bad.
There should be more "ways" to make yourself acknowledged to the world. That would be a good thing.
The best about school is that it puts you in social situations and many times, you are almost pushed into a social environment...which might help you when it comes to social intercourse. That is good.
The worst thing about school. It doesn't fit everybody. It is not for everyone. It is not a "model-fits-all". Someone who doens't fit the model is likely considered dumb or irresponsible. Thinking that THAT IS what students are, is wrong. Many students simply don't fit the bicentenary system they're put into.
Another bad thing about it is that it makes people believe that education means sitting in a room listening to a professor talking about subjects and understanding them. Which is not education, it's schooling.
An education would be "teaching" a student how to learn by himself and then leaving him alone no matter what age the student was.
The worst thing about school is that it doesn't seem to understand that it is not a matter of age, it's a matter of wether the student is able (and want) to take in the information or not. This varies from person to person.
It's not..."one age, one thing to learn". "It's one age, learn whatever you want." Learning woudln't be a problem if schools were doing their job.
School limits you. Which is another one of the "worst" things.
Creativity does not flourish with boundaries. Creativity makes the world evolve.
Einstein wasn't lying when he said that "It is nothing short of a miracle that one still has that spark of holy curiosity after spending so much time in schools."
