Line 18 on the US Passport application asks for travel plans.
Erm... what if I don't have any? Okay to leave it blank? I'm not about to make something up!

Thanks.... ;-)

The phone number for the Passport Info Center (NPIC) is toll free: 1-877-487-2778. Ask them to be positive. Any other answer may hold up the process.

Leave it blank. A lot of people wait to the last minute to apply for a passport, so they're interested in knowing if you need it next week.

never hurts to fill in even a proposed trip. they get many of those things in every day at the passport center and try to process them in the order of departure. it also tells them if a visa is required for travel. there is no penalty or commitment for not keeping the travel plans - it is strictly a planning tool that might help you get your passport quicker.

Write "Indefinate" It fills the line with truth. You have undefined travel plans. YOu may or may not use the passport, but desire to have it in case your plans become definate.
