Looks like you have a common Orb Weaving Spider, probably a Jewelled Araneus, which rarely bite and should be considered harmless - or helpful if you like them catching flying insects near your home.

I think its a type of orb weaver spider. They are common all over the country. They are usually harmless, all though they can cause some pain and swelling in rare instances when they bite. I don't recommend picking it up with your bare hands. Use a stick or something or just leave it alone. Having spiders in your house is actually a good thing, since they eat annoying things like flys and nats.

Those ugly bastards are all over West Virginia as well. I'm not sure what they are, but so far they're harmless. They actually do kill quite a few bugs on our porches, so I just let them be.
