Bunch of back stabbers, that's right worry about yourself. This must be a Canadian question. You don't have to rat people out, and you don't get in trouble for knowing something happend. You get in trouble for helping or covering it up. From the sound of most of the people in this room crossing the road not on a crosswalk is a little risky so I don't think you have to worry about a cover up.

So if you know a crime was commited then you are as guilty as the person who did it? That is BS! That is some of the gayest stuff I have ever heard. I wouldn't lie to the authorities, but I wouldn't be a patsy. Rats, rats, rats!!!

Take advantage of "privileged" communications.

Find a GP/Therapist/minister or preacher that you trust, respect and can feel comfortable with. Ask them if they know about "privileged" communications and ask them what that means for what they are able to do with what you are about to tell them.

You will want them to tell you that privileged communications are just that. They are not allowed or able to communicate them to anyone else. (Most would feel ethicaly compelled to go to the cops only if another crime were to be committed). Other than that, if you are dealing with a knowledgable doc/preacher/attorney you should be ok with sharing your story with them.

It obviously bothers you, whatever the issue is. Find someone to discuss it with. Even if you have to pay $200 to a shrink to get it off your chest. At least you will gain some thoughts on how to move forward. Then you can get back to the hard job of making good grades in school.

Whatever it is, you need to put it behind you and move on.

This is a good question! I had it in my psychology class once. I answered that it would totally depend on the situation/conditions. There's rarely an acceptable occasion for either of these crimes. However, if my son or daughter committed murder, I would have to think about it long and hard, and weigh all the consequences. When it's someone you love, how do you turn your back on them?

I wish I could say yes or no, but I don't know for sure. I hope it never happens to anyone on this board.

yes i would i would not want anyone to come pounding on my door after the person was arrested and the police tells you that you are also being charged for knowing about the crime and that would also make you serve time and anyone how even thinks that their relative is in such a situation should contact the police as soon as possible so yes i would turn them in to avoid being in trouble also

I found out my son had tried to set fire to some chaps house while he was sleeping (drug related, on my sons side). The bloke jumped out of his window, hence braking his ankle. He could of lost his life. Luckily, he didn't. I could of been the mother of a murderer. I did phone the police, but he had his cover story, already sorted. I would hand them in at any time, being something major: Sorry if you think I'm a bad Mum.x

Yes, no question about it. Did you know if you don't and you know about it you are also committing a crime. If you do not report it and they find out that you knew they can also prosecute you in the court of law.

I think it would depend on the crime, murder- in self defense or just to kill someone, if it was just to kill someone I would turn them in. Robbery to feed themselves or their children, no, stealing just to steal yes. There is no yes or no answer I think it depends on the circumstance.

Yes. A person who commits a crime, in my opinion, is someone who has put his/her family at risk. That being said, I wouldn't abandon that person... I would do everything in my power to support him/her and hopefully he/she would be rehabilitated and brought back into the fold of my family and society.

Standing on morality, yes cuz if u don 't and it gets discovered, you become an accessory as you had knowledge of it.

Is this person worth the jail/prison time you'd spend?

Murder definitely
Robbery - depends on what kind and how much and if it was connected to a violent crime or not etc.
