Satan and his demons "know" that Jesus is the Son of God, and they aren't going to heaven. I guess just knowing isn't enough. It evidently requires more on our part.

Good question. They know it but they don't confess with their tongue and their heart. They also serve the other master.
In Paul's letter to the Romans, he writes "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Therein lies the difference. The demons don't call "I AM" Lord. Satan is their Lord. Satan is his own god. That's the danger in glorifying yourself. We all become like Satan if we do.
Christ came to glorify the Father, and if we follow His example, then we will become more like God.
Not a hard choice there.

Salvation is free gift given on the basis of faith.
Faith is like love, it is worthless unless it motivates a person to do something.
1 Cor 13:1-4 shows faith without love is worthless.
Matt 7:21-23, just confessing and even doing works doesn't guarantee salvation.
Faith and love has to be built on the foundation true knowledge of God (John 17:3)

They think that because they are morons.
And by the way, the reason Satan and his demons aren't going to heaven is because if there was no hell, and no Satan, then there would be no sin - and no basis for christianity. Nothing for God's 'flock' to repent over, nothing for us to need saving over. No need for Christ at all. Nor for God.
Think about that.

Yes, it does require more on our part. You need to stay prayed up and deeply rooted in your church and pray to God that He strengthens you spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically to conquer whatever tests are in front of you. you can believe in Jesus all you want but if you don't KNOW Him, what's the use? I KNOW who Jesus is and I have the faith that He will bring me out of whatever situation the devil brings upon me. NOBODY can love you like Jesus can.

Satan does not WANT to be in heaven. He made the conscious choice to be the opposition.

How could a thought in your head, something that never needs to be expressed, either through actions or words, will ensure your eternal salvation?
