Is it a bad idea to buy a VW Eurovan camper (Weekender)? I've heard that many of them are lemons.?

We have a family of 4 and would love to have a vehical to use for family trips and camping. Looking on the web it seems like there are a lot of people reporting lemon experiences with their Eurovans. Because VW has stopped producing Eurovans, Weekenders and Westies, you have to pay top $ to buy one used.

Cant say for all of them but my dad bought a weekender with a 5cylinder a couple of years back and he loves it. He uses it all the time. He was however a VW tech for 35 years so he fixes stuff himself.

Why on earth would you want one? Get a minivan at least for the $ it will hold up better than those things!
