I have been married to the Army for over 2 years now, and a child of a Mother in the National Guard for years...

I think that liberals are just don't get it. Every one sees circumstances differently, and although it is INFURIATING many times to see some one that has absolutely no idea what is going on over there spouting off laughable rhetoric (Like, War for Oil, etc.) they only know what they know. I used to be a liberal (I know...I am seeking counseling) and it took having children to open my eyes. Thanks for the thought, God Bless.

Has a son and a daughter in law in the military and in Iraq. Has yet to talk to a liberal that is against military personnel, they wish the best for each and every soldier that is stationed in Iraq. Almost all simply do not agree with the reasons for this war. Initially I was in agreement for the war...i,e, to go after Bin Laden and the people responsible for 911. But that is not what the war in Iraq is about at all. The war in Iraq is not about protecting the American way of life. It is more about issues of colonization, economics, and establishing a strategic military presense in the area. Now the mistakes have been made and I'm afraid our hands will be tied and our involvement in Iraq will last the next 20 years with untold needless American soldier and Iraq civilian deaths.

There are plenty of Liberals that support the troops without supporting the war. You don't have to be a Bush or war supporter to care about our troops and their well being. Logical people know the troops are in Iraq because they have to be, not because they want to be. It's the anti-Military people that I find disturbing. They think if people didn't volunteer to go into the Armed Forces, then there would be nobody to fight this war. What they don't understand is that it just doesn't work that way. One way or another, we will have a Military in the United States. We either continue to have people sign up on their own, or they Government will bring the draft. Either way, somebody was going to fight this war in Iraq.
I've been married to my husband eight years out of his twenty year Military career, and if we let every person who hates the Military get to us, we would be driving ourselves crazy. I can tell you that the negative views of what my husband does has no affect how well he does his job. He knows he is doing something worthy, and it's something to be proud of.
We're supports of the President Bush, but we have our share of family members (Like my parents) that are against the President and this war, but they still love, support and respect my husband and his job.
Believing that every person is going to like the President and his political views is very unrealistic. That's why we have more then one candidate who runs for office in the United States. And people who believe that Armed Forces is to blame for this war, I guess you should just consider the source and understand that person is completely ignorant to the way the Military works, and how they have no choice when they are give orders.

It really saddens me to think that so many people in the military really believe that liberals hate them. I guess this is cultural baggage left over from the Vietnam War. Those people that displayed such hate to war veterans were just wrong. I support our troops, meaning I appreciate the job they do defending our country, and the bravery they show in their every day lives. I admire that. But that doesn't mean I have to follow blindly and accept a war that was based on lies. It's not discriminating against the military to believe we were all (the soldiers, too) led into a war based on lies. That all liberals are portrayed as hating the military is Republican propaganda, and lies. It's hate mongering just like the hate mongering that the hippies perpetrated against the Vietnam vets. It's ridiculous.

I think a lot of people in general just don't get it. That doesn't mean they are all liberals. There are two situations here: the reasons for the ongoing war in the Middle East and what's actually going on over there.

Yes, President Bush has his reason for sending and keeping us over there. Whether his private reasons are the same as his public reasons, I don't know. BUT, the men and women who are serving and PROTECTING our country in the Middle East and around the globe eat, sleep, and work in a danger zone.

I fully support and thank each and every soldier who is doing their best just to get through another day in one piece and to get their job done right. It takes a certain kind of drive to keep going in situations like they are facing, day in and day out. And the reasons that they are doing it are as varied as the reasons that sent them over there in the first place.

I think there will always be people, liberals or otherwise, who are anti-military, anti-war, or both.

But I will protect their right to be that way with my own life. Because protecting a country also includes protecting the citizens who won't lift a finger to help.

I believe that liberals aren't against what I did. Just against the fact that the Bush Administration took us away from what we were there for.

Liberals aren't anti-military or anti-war. Liberals are anti-stupid-war. Which is what the war in Iraq really is.

Conservatives on the other hand, we question their blind loyalty and unwillingness to admit their mistakes. I know a lot of people who are in the military and are questioning the President's agenda.

I served during the first Gulf War. I was stationed in the Persian Gulf for the entire operation, Desert Shield and Desert Storm. I agreed with what we were fighting for as did most of the world.
This current war is much different. There has never been a satisfactory explanation for why we are fighting, there has never been a clear strategy, and the Bush administration has basically lied the the American people.
I find it sadly ironic that the basic freedoms that this country is based on have been so trampled on, and that those of us who are patriotic are labeled as anti-American, or anti-military because we disagree with the war in Iraq.
Your statement of anti-war is laughable, I would hope that everyone wishes to avoid war.
If you think that Iraq was a threat to us then you lack a fundamental understanding of world politics. The facts are that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, had no ties to Al Queda, had no WMD's and posed no threat to anyone.
Now we are involved in a seemingly never ending conflict and Iran, which is a threat, is moving forward with its Nuclear program.

Er...I am a liberal..married to a soldier. Some liberals are anti-war, and others are anti-military. I fall into the former. My husband doesn't decide where he goes. If the CIC is a tool, that's not his fault. *shrug*

First, who the h*ll do you think you are to make such a
statement? Like I saw some red roses, do all roses are red. You wouldn't be able to find a Liberal against our troops if you spied on them with a satellite. It is questions like yours that are not out to get to Libs, but to make our military families think we are against them. We support our troops, you are creating trouble to further your own take on the war.
Further more, this liberal is proud to say we have family in the military, I was a military wife for 20 years, and we have had a member of my family in every war since 1776. I have never been any prouder of our military than I am today.

I don't think they have any understanding of what's really going on. I'm not a party person at all. I've never voted by party. Let me make that clear. That way I can't be called a Conservative or a NeoCon or any of the other names they like to call people when they don't agree.

I'm an Army wife. I have been for 18 years. It's truly and honor to be married to someone who protects this fine country. We also believe in what we're doing. We're not brainwashed or any of the other stupid comments they come up with like that. We love it and believe in it....period. If you can't support the war, it's not really possible to support the troops. War is what the troops do. It doesn't matter if it's in a foreign land or on American soil. We know why we're there and we see what progress has been made. We're not there to do any Presidents bidding or anything else. It's a justified war. There was WMD's found. There has been Al Qaeda terrorists captured there, especially in Baghdad. We haven't taken any oil out for ourselves. However, they are producing oil again, which brings them another step closer to being economically sufficient to support themselves. If we pulled out now, just cut and run, like the Liberals want us to do, all the troops who've died, will have died in vain. We need to finish the process. Help rebuild and make the self-sufficient. That needs to be the main difference between Vietnam and Iraq. We can't pull out before the mission is complete. We all seem to understand that, but they refuse to.

This is just the way I see it. However, I'm not affiliated with any party and I'm right in the middle of it. I think the main thing they forget, is there's someone out there serving, that protects their right to protest, call people names or spew ignorance on the internet. Can they say they've ever protected their own rights or those of family and friends??

90% of the troops in Iraq believe that there is an al Qaida and Iraq link, despite the so many reports that say that Saddam not only had nothing to do with 9-11, but he also sought to capture al-Zarqawi.

Bush himself has said there's no al Qaida/Iraq link (although Cheney said there was a link on Meet the Press days later).

I can understand troops thinking liberals are traitors when they hear lies like that, and then hear liberals wanting us to be out of Iraq. Not too mention just about every republican demonizing liberals for being against the Iraq war.

HEY ROADKILL...who's cheering soldier's deaths? We want soldiers home, it's neocons who want them to keep dying in Iraq for PNAC.

Last I checked the only people who were cheering soldier's deaths were Westboro BAPTISTS.
