Why this written on bridges on rte 101?

maybe its the date they built that bridge on.

I have driven rte 101 many times and have never noticed this. What part of 101 are you refering to?

Do you really mean, "written", as in graffiti or do you mean chiseled, stamped--part of the construction--and do you mean bridges, as in many or all bridges?
