The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.

Most dealers now have a free Carfax or Auto Check available on their site. Also, in the past I have signed up for Carfax and then cancelled after using it once and was never charged. The only thing about that is you have to give them a valid reason for cancelling.

Don't know of any that are free. If you're looking at buying from a dealer, they will generally run a carfax for you for free.

Don't waste your money, carfax reports do not prove anything. Take the car to a mechanic of your choice before you buy it.
