Unfortunately, I don't trust them - especially used car sales people. I say unfortunately, because a car is such a big expense that it would be nice to be able to trust the sales people - I can't afford to be suckered or talked into a car that's really above my means by a fast-talking sales-person. It's funny, car sales people have had a bad reputation for years and I wish I could say differently, but I have never had an experience with one that has changed that opinion. And I have heard too many stories from friends, and seen too many news magazine shows on TV - especially W5, where it was proven that the majority of the used car dealerships/sales people they investigated were unreliable (shady), to say the least - lots of horror stories - buyers truly have to beware. Especially if you are a woman; I know because I am one and speak from experience. By the way, mechanics are worse.

Some are good people, but I am tired of hearing the same old cliches and the number game. Now, I request several quotes on the Internet and I get the best one.
They still try to haggle, but then I stand up and suddenly they only want to sign for the price of the car in the internet.

Do not blame the sales person when you do not know how to buy a car or how to negotiate the price, also don't blame us when you never look under the hood and instead you checked the stereo or the DVD people taht konw how to buy cars, don't have these problems.we are here to make money just like anybody else.

Much of how a salesperson acts is in direct relationship to where they work. Myself for instance: For six years i sold Dodge, customers would shop you for 100.00, so you'll have to skate around the truth to make some money. Many dodge buyer have bad credit, and want a low payment. Well, that's impossible, so we would again have to skate around the truth. BUT, now at BMW, most people have good credit, can afford the car they are looking at, and care more about convienence than price. Nobody leaves my desk with a low ball number, they know the exact number, and of course they do pay, but they get the best service you'll imagine.
Buy BMW or Mercedes and you'll never deal with a scumbag again.

Most of the ones I've run across, I wouldn't have working for me. I've bought a lot of cars and trucks for 36 years, so I've seen many. BUT, there are certainly many salepeople who are honest and caring and do a great job. They are knowledgeable of their products and their competitors products. Those are the ones I deal with again and again.
