Isn't this crazy. And yet, we ask the theist for *one* *piece* of *empirical* *evidence* about God and don't get it.

That's because it's impossible to provide objective proof of a subjective belief.

Prove that you are happy. Or that you love someone. Or that you have hope. Now, you can't just use an example or claim it is obvious from the outward behavior. You need to provide direct empirical evidence of the emotion itself, and in such a way that there is no other explanation for the empirical evidence. It can't be done. Because emotions and beliefs are subjective. Ask Turing.

Can we prove the Universe exists? Yes. Can we prove that we are connected to it? To an extent, yes. Can we prove that the Universe (aka God) has thoughts, and feelings and emotions? No. Just like we cannot prove that we do. But most people believe that we do, and most people believe that God exists.

And just as it probably makes the atheists feel better to think of themselves as conscious beings with emotions and free will, it makes those with faith feel better to think of God the same way.

what evidence would you like? For centuries, this debate has gone back and forth with the same standard answers on both sides...if there is no proof that God exists than why are so few people atheists? This is not an attack on you, just posing a question to help understand how this is a very difficult answer. You are looking for proof in a way that is almost impossible to answer.

You believe in evolution I am assuming. However, there are no FACTS that macro-evolution takes place...too many unanswered, critical questions, yet you have faith that it is true. Same idea that goes the other way.

Feel free to open a debate with me if interested. I would be curious to hear how others respond.

I've always wondered why I should put my faith in a god who killed his only son and creates evil.

(Isaiah 45:7, KJV) - "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."

(Amos 3:6) - "Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?"

When I ask a theist why I should believe in this god of theirs, they simply say, "Because the bible says so." Talk about a circular argument. Reminds me of a dog chasing its tail.

This is the type you could give her a bulleted list in bold print and she'd still be blind to it. No matter what, her mind is made up and what she 'sees' is the only thing that is right. I don't want people who will always agree with my outlook but I do like even the opposing side to be open-minded... she's a closed book.

That is a stupid person. She needs to check through resolved questions before showing her ignorance. If I had come into this site as an xian and watched and read all of the information that I've seen so far, I'd at least be agnostic by now. Their close-mindedness is staggering.

Yup.

They wallow in a continual state of self dellusion.

95% of answers I have seen regarding why atheists do not believe in god are: There is not sufficienent evidence.

Perfect, logical, and sensible answer. Apparently theists just don't get it.

I guess it's to be expected. They probably look at our answers about why we're atheists, see that they make perfect sense and quickly pretend they hadn't seen them and look at something else. Then they use their highly evolved (or highly created) abilities of self delusion to convince themselves the question hadn't been answered.

How many people in history do we have "empirical" "evidence" for? What about Caesar? Alexander The Great? William Wallace? Socrates? Where is your "evidence for these people?

Ignorance is bliss - they ask and ask why we don't believe. I say because there is no *physical* proof. When I ask what physical proof there is of God I get "uumm I HAVE FAITH!!"

It's a two way street babe
