Usually stress or fleas. My cat did this and I tried everything. After months of not getting better I hauled him off to the vet. He had fleas. I felt terrible- it was something so simple and I did not see it. I was shocked- none of the others had fleas, I had not seen fleas anywhere and I was not getting ankle bites which usually will clue me in. My roommate and I had even given him a flea bath just in case (before my vet told me how bad the chemicals in flea baths are for the cat). For some reason they were just attacking this one cat. Now he gets Revolution every month and the problem is gone.

It could be fleas...or it could be something like ringworm. Are the bald patches round and symmetrical?
I also had a cat that just got caught up in grooming, and started pulling out her hair. The vet said she was neurotic (what cat isn't???) and after a while she stopped doing it.

My cat has been through the same thing.
She is allergic to fleas. She does not have fleas but apparently got a flea bite at some point. Take the cat to the vet. They can give her a steroid shot and that will fix the problem, at least for a while.

Usually, this behavior is caused by a skin condition (Flea Allergy Dermatitis or some other feline skin problem) or stress. Consulting the vet is your best option right now.
My friend had a siamese that started doing this....he was put on Valium.

My cat does the same thing on the back of his front legs. The vet said it's because of his anxiety - everything stresses him out. You should probably have your vet check your cat to make sure she doesn't have any physical issues causing her to do this.

Several possibilities, its some nervous habit, she's got alot of itchiness, or something is causing stress to the cat.
Maybe its a medical condition and should be checked out by a vet.

give your vets office a call and explain what is going on and they may be able to tell you something you can do over the phone.

An infection? An allergic reaction to food. Did you change it lately? Her skin might be itching. If she were a person, I would say stress.
