Love is an artificial construct used to keep people chained to other people. It is entirely imaginary and just about useless (it does aid in procreation). Love stories are used as barriers to block out the harsh reality of the real world. And they're not even good for reading.

No one really "falls in love." I've fallen into a lot of stuff and love wasn't one of them. To be in love with someone is a choice, not something that just happens.

I say imaginary. You just convince yourself you're in love with a person when in reality its only you wanting to be in this state of being in love.

Yes. The section of the brain that is involved is termed the "limbic" system. It releases hormones that can actually interfere with one's perception, depresses one's appetite, causes heightened awareness and makes one feel "wired". When one falls "out of love" reality returns and in many cases we look at the object of our lust and ask -"huh? why him(or her)?"
As for love stories, their function is to recreate the thrill of the actual event.

we really fall in love, some people think they are in love when they truely are not, but when you are in love you know it. i wouldn't say love stories are true, but it gives you the feelings of wanting to love and learning how to love.
