I am doing a research paper on Norms in the United States, such as we stand in line to pay for things, we face forward in elevators, can anyone think of more examples?

When in our car in an intersection,we defer to traffic coming from the right, sports such as autoracing, horse racing, baseball, kick ball are done counterclockwise. this was deliberately done due to the revolutionary war, and our need to be different from the British, but now it is the norm. We do not defer to a car merging onto the highway,or backing out of a driveway, in other countries it is illegal not to help/ defer.

How about tipping for service in restaurants and the like? In many European countries, the gratuity is automatically factored into the bill; and a hundred and fifty years ago, it was actually ILLEGAL to tip in a lot of places! The notion was that it fostered the "master/servant" mentality and class system of the European countries we had broken away from....

We (in the USA) use a restroom if at all possible.
Generally foot traffic mirrors traffic on the road (not always, but mostly)
We maintain a personal space... more so than other cultures.

Some people get a hangover from drinking way too much and they do it again the day of the hangover. That is the only stupid thing that I cannot understand.

We point to our wrists when we ask people the time.
We wait for the "walk" sign at intersections even though no cars are coming.
