Three frames of thought here:
1. He's calling other woman.
2. He's intimidated by you.
3. He doesn't want to ruin it with you by looking to needy.
As far as the first possiblity you can easily discover if this is true by planning or a friday or saturday night to go out AT THE LAST MINUTE! If he likes you he'll jump right on it, and if he had plans with his buddies he would cancel or possibly bail out (of course not telling you that he had to make this sacrific to to be with you). The point is if he like you he'll find the time. If not he'll make up excuses. Which means he's blow smoke that "he likes you a lot".
Now for number two if he is intimidated by you, he talks very fast and you can tell he's nervous, he doesn't look at you in the face or eyes as he talks to you, he tryies to keep his comments short or to long to keep you entertained with topics that may not be at all interesting. (but hey, at least he's trying right?)
Now for the last bit well, its possibly that he doesn't want you to pull away. It has been my expirence and the expierence of many that men that call to often simple turn woman off. They seem needy and therefore women don't want any part of them. He just wants to do things right. If this is the case you need to le him know that its okay to call you. That that's what you are used to if you like someone. Bu if after you tell him this and still the same pattern then refer to my "Frame 1". Good Luck!

Depends on his age.. if he's under 18 then I'd say he's just nervous about using the phone
if he's between 18 - 26 then I'd say he is playing you and that you will be nothing more than just a casual sex partner.
If he's over 26 then I'd say he's really not interested.

nope not really, in my case i've known this guy for like 2 years and we started dating, then he went MIA (Missing in Action), well 2-3 weeks ago he contacted me and we talked and he wanted to start over and i said yes, and he said i was the only woman for him. but then he said he was gonna call me the next day, and it has been 3 weeks, no calls. i called his phone and he was still alive. most guys are just jerks and not nervous, it depends on how long it has been since he has called you.

It means he is calling other chicks...hell give him some space what do you think you are in a relationship with him or something

Yes nerves they play havoc with your thoughts and make you in worse shape.
Why don't you call him? He would probably be surprised and like it.
