if you have a branded computer then I wud not recommend u to download updates, but if you have original windows(not bundled with ur PC) then u can download them.

Microsoft people don't support if your OS came with the PC, they support u only when you have purchased it directly from them or some retailer

Well.. be careful with security updates because I have a Windows XP version and when i once downloaded the security updates my computer locked down everything I couldnt see HTML, windows media player didnt work, limewire or kazza or anything like that wouldnt work, and it took me hours to fix. Some updates just say windows xp updates I would stick with just downloading those and not the security upates and just put a type of pop up blocker or virus detection like McAfee on your computer instead of downloading security updates.

Most microsoft applications (including windows iself) are extremely vulnerable to attack, partly due to their coding and partly due to their popularity.

Windows updates patch security holes that could be exploited by hackers to harm your PC, steal sensitive information, or use your internet connection to commit other crimes (which would lead back to you).

The windows updates are not foolproof, but there is very little reason for the average user to not download them. Advanced users sometimes complain about issues with certain XP service packs, but most users are not adversely affected.

YES!!!! I don't say it like that to be rude, but just to show the importance of it. If you don't, you're leaving vulnerabilites in your computer, so that hackers can do damage to your computer. Updates fix these vulnerabilities. Download Windows Updates ASAP!!

Yes. They protect you from serious security risks, viruses, and spyware. The large virus outbreak a few years ago (blaster, welchia, etc) was caused by people who had not done their windows updates. At the time, even with anti-virus software, if you had not done your updates, you still got infected.

Yes it is beneficial to download the updates. The updates help with keeping your system and its tools recent enough to be programmable with on-line materials. It also helps to protect garbage filling up in your memory.

windows update is good if u r using the original windows n not the pirated one. if u still do then u face a problem later regarding software counterfeiting..i mean a message is displayed whenever u log in..tht the software is a counterfeit.
