I was entering the highway from the right lane which was about to become another exit. I had my left blinker on, checked my mirrors to see if the right lane was clear. All was clear, so I merged in. In a flash, this beige car appeared in front of me and nearly swiped the front of my car. It came from the middle lane and was going so fast towards that right exit ramp. This driver had to the nerve to look around at me and give me a glare! Meanwhile: she was speeding, exiting the highway from a middle lane and had plenty of opportunity to get in the right lane BEHIND me to take that exit. I was going 60 mph and increasing to the max so it was not like I was a slowpoke. Why the heck couldn't she have slowed down and got BEHIND me in the right lane and taken that exit correctly. Instead she put me and families lives at risk.
Thanks to anyone who read this far. Just had to get that off my chest, now back to work.

Thanks for all the support. Believe me, if my kids had not been in the car, then fingers would have been flying though I didn't even get the chance to honk the horn. Unfortunately, "Idiot" became our word of day.

I have never liked that design in exit/entrance ramps because it really is a test for people's driving, and they usually fail. And in the situation given, it sounds like a case of last minute exiting. Either that lady wasn't paying attention or is like so many others who refuse miss their exit and take the next one if necessary. You're lucky she missed hitting you, scary as it is, she probably didn't even initially realize you were there which likely explains why she gave you a weird look. During my driving career, I found highway merging/exiting to be many driver's biggest weaknesses. They have poor judgment of other vehicle's speeds, and when you throw a lack of courtesy into the equation it's a recipe for potential disaster. This is why paying 100% attention to YOUR driving is so necessary, you never know what someone else is going to do. Compliments to you for avoiding the accident.

Some people have no business behind the wheel of a car, not just the wreckless drivers, but people who pass you, then when they get back in the proper lane, they slow back down. You try to pass, they speed up, so you let them have the "lead" of the lane and they slow down, slower than you were driving to start with. It's just some of the "jerks" that all drivers have to put up with. They'll get it some day, they'll do it with some undercover cop in a unmarked car, I mean nothing in plain view to i.d. that it's a police car, thier radio may be hooked up to the regular am/fm radio antenna, and regular lic.plates (not police type lic.plates). They have them in Indiana that state police use, they switch cars around from county to country at times.

People are soooo ignorant by nature. They do some pretty crazy things with no understanding of safely to themselves or others. Driving just shows you there are so many people out there. Even if they arent so ignorant, it always comes out if they are driving. I'm not saying speeding is right or wrong cause I do it all the time but there's always a right time and place to do it where you dont have to endanger the lives of others. I'm a fast driver BUT a safe driver as well. In this case the other driver was out right just negliant. Screw her! I hate those kind of drivers!

Thank you!! So its not just me! I have a bad case of Road Rage, I think I need a prescription for mine though. I dont understand the concept of "oh I gotta get over RIGHT NOW" either, especially when its like 20 car lengths BEHIND you. Now this broad took it for granted that you wouldnt speed up suddenly & force her goofy a$$ back in the other lane. I said I was gonna start carrying a Ziploc of pea gravel in my car for people like her!

do notchronic on the line till you're comfortable! ok, now shall we quiet down. you decide on prepare, and many it. The greater you do some thing, the greater well-off you alter into. like the previous poster mentioned, take it to an empty parking zone and prepare. initiate sluggish gasing and braking. upload some turns. Get quicker and quicker till you could floor the gas, make a good turn, then hit the brake and you probably did no longer experience a 2nd of panic. Panic is the worst available emotion to bypass by using on the same time as utilising (for you and the different drivers on the line). you will ultimately understand utilising isn't as frightening as you concept, even yet it rather is significant to experience comfortable on the same time as utilising. i encourage you to no longer bypass on the line till you DO experience comfortable.

Mergin is so funny. So many people have no clue.
Some people have no idea how to yield to traffic. Others just refuse to slow down while merging.

i hate when people do dumb crap like that. i would have given her the finger. you can tell the ones that dont care and do illegal things because most times their cars look like crap. i always say "i see why your car looks like that" i dont want anyone tearing up my car so i "try" to stay away from them or let them pass. but that was downright dangerous what she did.
