It's not wierd - it's unique. Sounds like your parents believed you were so special as an individual that they didn't give you a traditional name. You should thank them.

It's a good name. People only think things are strange when they can't or are not equipped to understand. Be happy, you could have an even less common name like Ashley or Amanda. Unique is good.

Are your ancestors from Okinawa? Maybe your name is suppose to be May and they added the son later.

actually no baby girl. it's unique and to me, it's a great sounding name. you don't want to be the wallpaper name "christ, christy, chritian, christina, kirsten, (some times spell with a k) your name will make you stand out and people will remember you. :)
