You will not be able to open that checking account but you may be able to open another if you can find a bank that will accept the circumstances under which the previous account was closed. If you closed it your self and it was in good standing there should be no problem. If the bank closed it, you should be ready to explain those circumstances.

It all depends on whether you closed it or the bank closed it for some reason, and how long it's been closed. The rules vary from bank to bank, some may let you re-open an account after it's been closed for 4 months.
It's best to check with your bank to see what their policy is on the matter.

well it will depend on the bank i am sure..but as long as the other account was not in a neg. balance...then there should not be problem..and if there was a neg balance most banks will still open as long as you bring the neg to a pos...if you cant at that bank try another..someone will open one for you...one time i reopened an account and i got my same account number so that i could use my old checks...good luck!

been there.... done that... as long as they havent reported you to the national agency (dont remember its name) you can start one at another bank. You can usually start another account at the same bank as long as you left with a zero balance - no negatives. Depends on the bank.

It depends why it was closed. Did you close it or was it closed by the bank because of NSFs or a negative balance.
