Well you can expect sore teeth for a while until you get used to the tension of the braces on your teeth. This will occur everytime you have an adjustment. The orthodontist moves the teeth a little at a time. The retainer comes after you have had the braces removed to prevent the teeth from shifting out of the alignment the orthodontist has set for your specific case. Good luck and you will feel it was worth a little discomfort after you see your beautiful new smile. You can take tylenol or advil for the discomfort of the adjustments.

Braces are fragile, be careful not to break them on hard foods. Take the extra time to keep them clean, healthy teeth will move faster and heal quicker. Retainers, retain the new position of your teeth while they heal after treatment.
Congratulations on the beginning of your new smile.
