You know what? If he says he's not ready for a serious relationship or commitment, my guess is that he isn't.

.Some people lust after what they can't have so when you make it available the thrill is gone. One can't say whether that is the case here.

Question: was his interest in you a factor in your ending your previous relationship? Or is it possible that he thinks so? It may be that he (erroneously or not) perceives a lot of pressure.

Personally, I would not enter a new relationship until at least a year after the old one ended - there is too much psychology at work. When they have looked at stress, psychological researchers have found that it takes three years to recover one's bearing after the death or separation of a spouse or parent. If you enter a new relationship it will be on the rebound, whether you are aware of it or not. So this person is doing you a favour. Either continue seeing him casually, without mentioning any "relationship" or play the field.

Liking is not the same as loving, if you like each other, be friend and carry on liking each other. But if you want to sleep together, then have fun, but ask yourself who is using whom, you, because your last relationship has ended, or him, because he has been chasing you for a year?

I say that you should follow your heart no matter what. I think that if you feel that he want just some of your good stuff than just leave.
