My friend ask me whya IRS don't cash her check that mailed at Aug14.It's been 4 weeks now.She filed extention back in April.

don't worry, they will definitely cash it. you can imagine how many checks they have piling up at their payment processing centers..

The important thing is to be able to prove that she filed on time and the IRS received the return. That is normally done with a return receipt from the Post Office. It would be nice to have made a copy of the check and the return to show the IRS if they never find her check. They do lose several a year so it is not an unusual situation but don't worry if you have any type of proof that you filed. And 4 weeks is not a long time for them to process a check at this time of the year.
