800 calories may be too low depending on what your body's specific needs are. Many factor's go into how many calories a person needs, like weight, height, health conditions, bmi, etc. You shouldn't cut back too much, because your body runs on the nutrients that come from the food you eat. If you end up eating lower calories than what your body needs, you may find yourself very tired, with less energy, feel fatigued, have head aches, migranes, etc. Your body's metabolism may also slow down as a result of eating too little calories, and your body will end up storing whatever you eat instead of burning it off, because your body feels that since it's not being fed, your body needs to store everything that you eat when you do, because it can't tell when you're going to eat again. Also, eating at specific times of the day is good for your body. So if you normally eat lunch around 12:00 p.m., your body will be expecting food, and will be ready to take it in. Usually, a healthy diet should consist of 1200-2000 calories a day. You should eat well balanced, complete meals, and try to exercise when you can, even if it's mild.

800 is awfully low. Either add a nutritional supplement to it to ensure you're receiving your daily nutrition or eat more calories and consume the proper nutrition. See website link below for a nutritional supplement that can be used to augment an 800 calorie diet or can be used by itself as a sole source of nutrition without adding any additional meals.

800 calories is VERY LOW; shoot for 1500-2000 daily. You need some kind of carbs/protein to operate on during the day.

I lost weight really fast at one point in high school. I was eating 500 calories a day and I was horribly sick looking. My mom finally made me go to the doctor told me that I should be consuming AT LEAST 1200 but preferably closer to 2000...

I've been going to a personal trainer. He told me w/ my weight I need to eat 1250 cal. a day. If you eat too much you will gain if you eat too little you will not lose. I couldn't take my baby weight off for anything. I charted what I ate for the week and he told me I needed to eat more. Go figure it worked!! There is a formula you do to figure the cal. out but I can't remember it. Try going to ask Jeeves to find it. If not there call a trainer in your area or the YMCA maybe they can tell you. Good luck!

yes 800 is way to low. you have to give your body something to work with! I would say about 1100-1200. Make them good calories. Lots of grains, high fiber, fruits & veggies. Be careful you can really make yourself sick if you are not eating enough for your body to burn. Good luck!

I have seen diets with 500 calories, but make them quality calories, not junk food and do this for only a short time.

800 is way too low, unless you just do nothing all day. it'll put your body into starvation mode. i'd say at least 1200, and 2000 if you have a workout plan.
