yes and no.
There is an Imam who will lead the Friday prayer.
But no Muslim is better than any other Muslim in the eyes of God.
The Imam is a person any person who has memorized the Quran.
But in the end it is between you and God there is no one that you need to go through i.e. priest, minister for you to pray to God.

No. there are Imams and other high ranking clergy in each sect but not one head of church. Islam is much like christianity in that there are different sects (denominations) Asking if Islam has a pope-like figure would be like saying the pope is the head of Chrisitianity (he's not). But no each sect (Shite, Sunni, and others) have ususally a council of elders who dictate how the religion evolves and how scriptures are interpreted.

Yes, a sect of Islam called Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam whose web site is www.alislam.org truly believe that they will lead the Muslims and bring peace between Christian Jews, and Islam and also the followers of some other faiths. There peaceful movement is currently under a Khilafat(the rightful followers of Islam, and not he radicals who spread hate and bring wrong name to the most peaceful religion on this planet. The Ahmadiyya motto is,"Love For ALL, and Hatred for None."

Love of Truth got it right. There was once a supreme leader
called the Caliph. That is why the Sunni and Shia muslims
are divided now. Sunnis believe anyone with a good heart can
be Caliph. While Shia's believe the Caliph must descend from
the Prophets bloodline.

in Islam there are no priests or clergy -- each worshipper, man or woman, has a direct relationship with their Merciful Creator -- Almighty God. Since God is the Owner and Sustainer of everything, as well as the only one who can provide true and complete forgiveness, it is completely futile to try to approach Him through anyone else.
Some religions say that human beings, due to their sinfulness, cannot approach God without an intermediary -- which mistakenly implies that God is unable or unwilling to forgive human-beings directly. Adam "atoned" for his sin by saying "My Lord I have sinned and if you do not forgive me and have mercy upon me then I shall indeed have lost." So God forgave him. Similarly, all human beings have the door to forgiveness left open to them by God until the day they die
Prayers are led by any learned person who knows the Qur'an and is chosen by the congregation. He (or she, if the congregation is all women) is called the imam.

THe Misguided Muslims do, they follow people who call them selfs "shakes" , but the guided Muslims just have preachers (imams) and actually obey the Quran and Sunnah and study for themselves so they will know true Islam and not be subjected to being controlled and muniplated (like blowing yourself up to get to pardise, what a lie). The Quran speaks directly against that and seeking gudiance from a "scholar" or "shake" rather then God and independent study.

No, there is nothing similar to the pope in Islam. There are imams and sheikhs but they don't lead the religion just one mosque or one community.

No, they don't. As a Muslim, each person will be judged according to his/her actions. No Pope or religious leader can give a "pardon". Its between you and God. We have scholars that are experts in Islamic Sacred Law and teachings. However, it is rich with debate and diversity, as is the human population.
And no, theres no such thing as force and convert. Allah (God) says in the Qur'an, "There is no compulsion in religion"

the words of Mohammed lead this religion and urge them to "kill, kill, kill" (those literally are words attributed to him by his closest followers who wrote down the accounts of his life and his words and actions.
They are found in the Hadith (which is the other holy writings of Islam besides the Quran).
You can find more damaging information about Islam (the proof that it is an evil, and bloodthirsty system of belief, and has been from the beginning) at the below website:

It will TRULY open your eyes about Islam.

It is called The Caliphate. This position depending on who you ask is either presently not filled or by defacto is Osama Bin Laden by his resolute attempt to restore such a post.
