My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

The Cambridge Diet is perfect for you. It has been around for over 30 years, has TONS of research to back up it's findings and was designed by a team of nutritionists for morbidly obese persons with health conditions who need to lose weight. It produces the weight loss results of gastric bypass surgery. It's affordable too, VERY affordable. My cousin is morbidly obese and was about to become wheelchair bound from her weight. She started this diet 3 weeks ago and already her clothes are getting sloppy and loose. She lost 20 lbs in the first week alone. (the more weight your body needs to lose the faster it will lose it so that's not too terribly alarming given her size) I have been on a diet as well but was only 50 lbs overweight so my weight loss, while rapid for a person my size, is much slower than my cousin's. I lost 17 lbs in the first 3 weeks. This diet will not only help you lose the weight but will teach you how to keep the weight off through behavior modification. It's very simple and easy to follow and it tastes great!

I am a distributor of the product and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. You can see my website below, it provides details on the Cambridge diet to include it's history, the variations of the diet available and the products available for purchase. (you cannot buy this in stores). I have a toll free number, feel free to call me with any questions or concerns.
You're already taking the first big step towards weightloss and behavior modification just by posting here today. Congrats!

Atkins is not really all that healthy. Living solely on meats can have adverse effects of your heart, actually raising your cholesterol, not to mention all the saturated fats. South Beach is very similar, but focuses on calories, too. It is true that men do better on high protein diets, which is what South Beach is.

Try a couple slices of turkey bacon or canadian bacon with a couple eggs for breakfast, salads w/ lean meats or nuts/seeds for lunch (with a low-sugar dressing, like a vinagerette), and for dinner, switch to lean proteins (i.e. chicken breast, lean cuts of beef, etc) and healthy veggies like broccoli or green beans.

The type of diet you choose is not as important and your dedication to it, though. Remember that it took more a month to get OUT of shape, and it will take a while to get back in. Whatever you decide to try, stick with it for a few weeks before you choose whether or not to stay with it, give it time to work on you.

Also, exercise is SUPER important. Not only does it improve and strengthen your heart, creating lean muscle mass raises your metabolism, so your dieting will be more effective. Also, exercise tones the muscles that your skin is attached to, so as you lose weight, it will help tighten your skin back up and help your skin not be quite so saggy.

I hope this is helpful! Good luck in your endeavor! It will be hard work, but the results will be more than worth it!!

Mark, the first thing you have to do is fix your mind! Food Is nothing more than what gas is to a automobile. Train your mind to know it's better for your body, and soul to break away from the wrong wonderful delicious foods.. they are going to kill you. Also make you miserable. Oh and Mark, remember they only taste good for a minute. The extra weight is misery for a life time. Until you change the way you feel about food, it's a waste of time.. The mind change first. Then the weight will start disappearing. Mark, I think a program would help.. To teach the real purpose of food. Hope you the best. I know you can do it.

150 lb is a lot.

If you are serious, then you have to change what ever lifestyle you had before.

Plan.
Try to cut your weight realistically! Also understand your body, will try to get back to the original weight, thus it is important to have the determination to stick to your new lifestyle.

Eat a balance diet, that's right for your exercise routine. Remember, to burn fat faster, you need to have muscles.

Each time you hit like say, you have lost 10 lb, celebrate a little, give yourself a little encouragement.

Read, and learn all the right stuff.. don't be too quick to buy into weightloss product.

Good luck.

Well there is no easy way to lose that amount of weight quickly but 2 easy things that you can put into action immediately are stop drinking all carbonated beverages. Why- because the carbonation breaks down your bodies enzymes. Enzymes are what your body uses to metabolize food. The faster your body metabolizes food the easier it is to lose weight. Also stop eating all fast food it is full of artificial ingredients and preservatives. To many of these things build toxins in your body and do become weight. There are many good herbs available to help you speed up your metabolism and they are natural and safe. Eat more fresh fruit, produce and incorporate beans (dried types) into your diet. This way you are getting the nutrition that your body needs and this will help you to feel more satisfied after eating. Also nobody ever wants to hear it but exercise is a must, start out slow and do only what you can safely and build yourself up. Losing weight without exercise is very slow and will leave you flabby, so tone as you lose.

I did the South Beach Diet. Bought the book and Cookbook. It was really simple. And I lost 40 pounds in 3 months, if not less then that. I did also exercise though, but not like everyday.

I also took Slim Quick, but it's for women and it had no caffine like all the other one's do thatmake your heart race or anything like that.

I would suggest that you see a Doctor before trying to do anything too drastic.

Quick weight loss can be quick weight gain if you change any of your habits back to what they were before you lost the weight

Look, you don't need those commercial diets. First,go to your doctor for a checkup before doing any exercise or diet plan. It took you a while to get fat,it'll take some time to get slim. Get away from the sodas, bread, fast food, candy(especially chocolate).
Eat six small meals per day. And drink plenty of water. Start drinking 2% milk. It takes some getting used to. Walk around the block after dinner. I bought myself a can of protein powder and with one scoop of that ,a banana, and a glass of 2% milk in the blender, I make myself a smoothie so I won't eat anything at night. It leaves you feeling full too. Good luck.

I weighed 280 pounds 3 years ago. My big fat doctor told me I had to lose weight. I went on Atkins and after about 8 months I was down to 220. 60 lbs. made a significant difference and Atkins won't let you starve- it regulates your carbohydrate intake so things like meat and cheese can be consumed whenever you want. My mom was worried about the cholesterol factor but when she was checked a few months after starting Atkins, her cholesterol levels had actually dropped! Breads are a no-no but I would occasionally have a slice or two with a sandwich without setting my progress back. After my big fat doctor saw the results, he too went on the Atkins diet and lost a lot of weight himself! We just bought the book and BAM!

Have a great day and good luck- but you won't need luck with Atkins... it WILL work!!!

Different things work for different people. I myself need to lose about 60 pounds. I have tried the Atkins diet and that one shows results very fast. But in all honesty we all need to cut out processed foods (anything packaged). I have basically tried to eat meats, fish and poultry. Vegetables like green beans and squash are good too. The thing with the Atkins is that butter and all our condiments (Ranch dressing, mmm!) are very low in carbohydrates. I have a hard time getting motivated to exercise so this will help get us started to get smaller so that we can exercise easier. Good luck and maybe give this diet 3 days and see if it works for you, I lost 3 pounds in 3 days. Then the following week it went down to 2 pounds. You can go to Google and find a carbohydrate counter to help. Again good luck and give yourself a break, remember stress holds you back from losing weight. Also i don't know if you are spiritual but remember: Our bodies are temples and please learn to love yourself no matter what you look like. I write myself notes and put them on the fridge my favorite: "You feel better when you eat right", its all about how you internally talk to yourself.
