Generally 50 pounds at most airlines. TSA has some resources you can check @ http://www.tsa.gov/ or you can just check your airline.

I'm assuming that you are flying - if so, checked in luggage can be just about any size but must weigh 50 lbs. or less. If luggage weighs over 50 lbs. you will most likely be charged extra. Also most airlines allow only 2 checked in pieces per passenger.
You can check in anything, i.e. bicycles, golf clubs, stroller, etc. but will be charged extra for some items. Do check with your airline and www.tsa.gov. :)

Hmm I know when taking the greyhound bus the largest size luggage that you can take is a large suitcase. Hope this helps

check with your air lines website, I'm sure they have luggage sizes on there that are acceptable..
