define whole family. it's impossible to invite my extended family to birthday parties, because we live on 3 different continents and 5 or 6 different countries. immediate family: only if it's a birthday of significance. like, 18, maybe 21, 30, 40, 50, etc. mostly i celebrate with whoever is in the area.

no just my grandmother whose birthday is two days before mine we usually celebrate together and my parents take us out to eat for our birthdays. I get birthday cards from my Aunt and Uncle and cousins and another grandmother. But I do not invite my Aunt and Uncle and cousins because they live a ways from me and some live in a diffrent state than I do. The other grandmother I do not invite because we are not that close.

NO! I don't have parties for myself but we do for my daughter.
Too many people if I were to invite all of them.

If you dont want them coming, say your having a get together and also let them know it's not mandatory for them to show and the ones you want coming - say it's a small get together and let them know you'd really like them to come.. otherssss just say it's not mandatory and if they want to "just drop by that's ok"
