Also they give you the red ones so when you vomit it looks like you vomit blood.
This is so they can tell your story to the gastroenterologist (tummy doctor) who might get worried that you are vomiting blood and then put a telescope in your tummy to look and find where you bleed from.
This sort of diet is called: clear fluids
It is something that tends to rest the bowel - as opposed to "free fluids" which includes milky stuff and soupy stuff. Clear fluid diet is water or cordial, jelly, ice/ ice blocks, clear soup (boullion)
It stirs up the tummy minimally and is used if they want to rest you and stop you getting tummy pains. Other diets (free fluids, light diet and all the rest) can cause your liver to secrete bile to digest fats, your pancreas to secrete enzymes to digest proteins and makes your bowel start up. Just clear fluids only can sometimes avoid this and turn these processes off a bit so your tummy won't be so sore.
Sometimes even THAT is too much and then they ask you to "fast" ie. not eat ANYTHING.

jello is binding and easy to digest, popsicles are easy to digest too plus it gets needed energy in the form of sugar and liquids into your system without overburdening the digestive system.

Liquid diet...They liquify easier and that makes them easier to throw up...As gross as it sounds it's easier to throw up a liquid than a solid....

It is something light and cool, and you need something to throw up. Dry heaves do worse damage to your system than a normal barf
