In this article the Pope is reading a quote from a 14th century emporer. Islam then compares the Pope with Hitler and Mussolini.
Why is it, that when someone says something, even a quote, that Muslims don't like, they have absolutely no self control, and their rage seethes in open displays of intolerance and outright hatred?
When they responded in even the harshest terms, calling the Pope 'Hitler', 'Mussolini', the Catholics don't start burning effigies of Muslim leaders, nor do they blow up busses, trains, and planes full of Muslims. This propaganda warr being fought by Islam is the most one sided event I have ever seen in my life.
If all those who are like minded, whether MUslims, or Christians, or Jewish, etc, meaning, willing to kill other humans over religious fanaticism, do not stop it, God has you marked for destruction.
All who live by the sword, shall die by the sword!

Yes i agree, why is it then when the Muslims show a total lack of faith, that their God, who is supposed to be almighty, can remove the 'infidels' without human help?
The God of the Bible, through his son Jesus Christ, has promised that Christians need only to learn to love their neighbors and wait for their God to execute judgment. They have no prerequisite to slaughter anyone in the name of God.
Although the apostate Christians throughout the ages did exactly as Islam is doing, by taking up the sword, they are all going to be destroyed by God for their bloodguilt.

Muslims feel hurt. That's all. And, Pope's remark was not simply a quotation. Quotations are used in a speach to help the audience better understand the lecturer, or to give further proof to what they say. Choice of words and quotations are totally intentional and political for a leader. So don't try to show it something unintentional. By the way, will you be as surprised as you are now by the reactions, if christianity or Judaism were under fire?

I have read the entire speech he gave. I do not believe he intended to characterize all of Islam as violent, however he did not do a very good job of explaining that he was speaking solely of the sub-sect of Muslims who follow the ideas of physical jihad. Also, the quote stating Mohamed brought nothing new that was not violent or evil could have been edited or paraphrased to remove the part negatively portraying Mohamed.
The speech as a whole gives the idea that Muslims are not following reason and, thus, are not following God because they violently attempt to convert the infidels and that they need to see the light of reason in the example of Christianity and get back on the path of God. While I believe he was trying to point out to those who DO perform violence in the name of God that they are actually hurting their own cause, the Pope does not take any time to explain that he is not making a wide reference to Islam as a whole.

To prove what the Pope said is wrong, Muslims riot and engage in acts of violence. Once again they have prove, en mass, that what he said is in fact true.
Mimi,
Stop the Taqiyya.
The only 'ignorant people' are those who do not see that Islam spawns violence like a spring rain mushrooms. Your brothers' violent protest prove this. Your defense of their violence and lies also show that Islam teaches people to be immoral.
Beautiful,
What you said makes no sense. If you saw every week someone who claims to be a apart of the 'green gang' slap your mother and then someone in the 'green gang' says, "How dare you say that about the green gang!" you would think there are wrong. So, stop defending the ideology that inspies terror across the globe. Unless you too support it . . .

They are very quick to get offended. They say that we catholics did the crusades and that we are wrong in our religion but we are not the aggressors like they say we are. We did horrible things in the past but that has not happened for thousands of years their actions are NOW. They always say that we are attacking islam. How? Muslims have wayyyy more freedom over in the west than they do in the middle east. You can be whatever religion you want say whatever you want and get whatever job it's not like that over there they have strict laws and the punishment for converting is death in alot of countries. They say alot of bad stuff about us and mock our religion and set fire to churches and during the riots about the mohhamed drawing they killed catholics for that and they had nothing to do with that. I'm fed up with kissing a**. If we do what they do and make america a christian country with christianity the official religion and make the converting death penalties and become biased they would be pissed but it's ok for them to do that to us. I'm catholic and their treatment to catholics and chirstians over there are way worst than how we treat them here. The rate in which they(cathoolics and christians) leave the middle east is alarming do to fear. Something needs to be done because it is not fair that they throw tantrums and kill whoever. That is not the way of Islam and that is not acceptable.

All religious extremists are whacked-out... on the news it looks like all Muslims are screaming, frothing psychos looking for blood, but it's probably only a small faction of them.
I used to work for a company run by Muslims and they were not at ALL like this. They were very tolerant and nice.
It's kinda like thinking that all Christians are like Fred Phelps. Ew!

It used to be that the "double standard" was something unique within the borders of the United States. It appears the double standard has spread, like cancer, to the rest of the world. If the shoe was on the other foot, and say Catholics rioted, or took up arms in response to something Muslims did - they'd be WRONG and just by opening their mouths - CRIMINAL!

Everything makes Muslims furious. They are furious when they wake up, until they go to bed. They have poor impulse control. They have poor tolerance of others. They are, for the most part, ignorant of the rest of the world and are easily led by unscrupulous leaders. Maybe in 5-600 years they will mature and grow up enough to function in a worldly society. Until then, well, let them have their fits. Nobody really listens to them anyway, They protest too much about everything.

We don't care what a fourteenth century man said. But we DO care that the Pope chose to quote this remark before a large gathering of University students in Germany.
Some people say he was speaking the "truth" and blah blah, but whatever he thought and felt, the Pope should never have condemned a religion.
We live in a civilized world where people who criticize another religion are considered "narrow-minded" and racist. Yes, there are plenty of people who do this still, but they are all simple-minded people who don't know much. Is the Pope as simple-minded as them to publicly criticize another religion?
For all I know, religion is a very sensitive issue to anyone. It is what we grew up with and teach our children. We don't want to be criticized for doing that, sorry.
