Don't get me wrong or judge me right away. I honestly think that (extreamist) Christians and (extreamist) Muslims dislike one another because all-in-all, they have a lot in common. Islam and Christianity differ on three main points: The Trinity, The divinity of Christ and The Crucifiction. Perhaps it's not the "differences" that pull the religions apart but the similarities, fighting for which one is MORE accurate....Just a thought.

yeah, opposites attract

likeness tends to oppose

we usually can't stand to see our own image, and then if we point finger and condemn, it's usually what we ourselves have issues with and we have 3 fingers pointing back at us

it takes one to know one

the beauty is marketing and propaganda mind altering techniques is what makes it politics and the struggle for support of who believes to be more plausible not who is actually right or wrong

we are all here....let's get along, same air, same blood, same shape, same planet

same need to co-exist

You're on the right track. Both religions are from the same set of scriptures. Ultimately it's just a difference of who the coolest prophet of God is. Muslims go with Mohammed, Christians think Jesus is the guy and in Judaism it's Abraham. Other than that, the various extremists don't differ that much.

People tend to gravitate to people like themselves, so it's not surprising that hateful people find each other and lock themselves into a cycle of perpetual violence. I say let them have each other.

Do your thing and spread love and kindness. That's the best religion and you can practice it anywhere with anyone. Stay away from that religion stuff. It's all about exclusion and creating a world full of "others".

The problem comes down to one and only one point: extremists in both faiths believe that theirs is the only real faith and that everyone else is going to hell (among other bad things that may befall you). It's hard to get past that. Tolerance would be a sign of heresy for a true believer since you would be saying you don't have the one true faith- and they know they do.

And once you know you have the one true faith, violence is pretty easy as almost everyone's bible preaches pretty strongly about it being okay to smite non-believers. Oh sure, there's a bit of turn the other cheek in there- but smiting trumps cheek turning 100:1 in most cases.

The most fun about extremists is, of course, that they use their book as proof that they are right (i.e. the bible says Jesus is the only true god and that proves that Jesus is the one true god). The Muslims and Jews have the same circular "logic" which is akin to watching any movie and saying, " but I saw it on the big screen so it must be true."

Pretty scary. But scary in a funny way. Or funny in a scary way. That's a whole other question.

Umm. no. .

Christianity is nothing like Islam at all. Christianity does (and Christians do) hate evil and deception and Satanic and false systems of belief masquerading as truth.

As a Christian, I don't hate anyone, including Muslims. I do hate Islam, tho' (the system of belief), because it is Satanic and has enslalved those Muslims into a false and damning system of belief and caused the deaths of millions of innocent people, simply because they wouldn't convert to Islam..

Islam requires its followers to hate all those who don't convert. Christianity requires its followers to love and treat kindly everyone (even those who hate you and persecute you). This is dramatically different from Islam.

Christianity = love your enemies

Islam = hate and kill your enemies (and even your neighbors, if they won't convert, or if they leave Islam). .

do you see any difference here?

How many Christian groups are threatening to bomb airplanes and declaring that the blood will run red in the streets of America or any other country?. . can you think of any Christians or Christian groups that are saying this???

Now count how many Muslims and Muslim groups are saying this (you'll need a calculator with a 12 digit display to show this number, I can guarantee it).

This kind of thinking is central to and inherent in Islam. It is what Mohammed himself taught had to be done (the below site proves this, quoting directly from the Quran and the other holy Islamic writings (the Hadith)

Very scary stuff (Islam is), when its true face is revealed.

A pretty good thought too. However, there is hate between many Religions and I don't think it's just about whose is most accurate. I think it comes from peoples need to not only be right, but to then convince everyone else that they are wrong. If everyone could recognize the fact that most religions have faith in one all powerful being, and faith is recquired to really belong to any Religion, we might just all get along. My own question is if Christ was not divine, why do so many Religions at least recognize his existence even if they don't believe He is holy.

Are you familiar with a phrase, "Thief hates another thief?"
I really do not believe that at this point they are fighting for any difference between their faiths. This for me is more of a matter political boundaries. Each one is already enchroaching on each other's territory. Their places of influences where each could make money is becoming more and more stiffer. Members from each camp are just like exchanging captive prisoners. Both are claiming theirs is the best way to heaven. Both promote Peace in their agenda. But how? whose Peace? They claim they have the same God. They both do not even know the name of God. One calls Him Allah with a hundred callings attached to it. The other calls Him God, Father, Yahweh, El, El Shaddai, Elohim, Adonai, and so forth and so on...Lately since they canot find the name of God, they are now inching the name Jesus as the name above all names. If that is going to be the case, then even sooner than expected, Jesus will be called God already. In fact, some major religions already are addressing him as that. It will now depend on who is going to be more aggressive in the campaign. If each religion claims to be the real truth, as expressed in Algebra "if all numbers are positively added to one another then the result will be negative."

I don't think they hate really that much each other. They had back in the middle ages, when Islam was invading Central Europe, and both considered the other one the "devils" army. It mainly was a propaganda to gather troops.
I think the problem today is with Islam, they hate every "infidel" not just Christians.

may not have anything to do with either the similarities or differences in the Religious Belief Systems at all. the differences may have more to do with Culture and Society values than Religious Issues. the underlying causes for conflict between Cultures and Societies may be deeper than just one particular cause or reason.

True followers are fighting out of love because they don't want to see anyone perish. We are so strong in our faith because we know Jesus is real.

Acts 1:8
"but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My WITNESSES both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

Jesus said "You or either for me or against me."

Any extreme belief, whether moral, religious, political or whatever is harmful. A balanced life is the key to true happiness. These people will never be happy or satisfied. They are full of hate and anger.
