Mabye he had an infection or a gum problem. Maybe he bit somethign really hard and knocked his tooth loose. Maybe he tried to jump on a chair or table and hit his tooth on it. Maybe he jumped OFF of a table and didn't land on his feet and hit his face on the floor. Maybe he just lost a tooth.

There are many things that could have happened. Take him to the VET to find out.

He could be jsut healthy in every other aspect other than his teeth. Alot of cats have really bad problems with their teeth if they are feed wet food most of the time. He probably has pretty bad tooth decay and needs a teeth cleaning. Keep him no an all dry diet and go to your vet for a dental estimate.

I would call the vet about it just to make sure. It might have fallen out for the new teeth to grow in, or maybe it should've stayed in. Call the vet, it's rather a smart decision.

take your cat just to make sure there is no other problem. I have a cat who's not yet 10 yrs old, and she lost one of her canines...root and all. apparently, it just fell out on it's own. the vet saw no sign of infection or any other problem except a little bit of gingivitis.
