i have a fren like that. Think she gets her validation and sense of worth by assuring herself that, hey, I'm wanted/desirable.
it's essentially a selfish thing.
i think that it's normal for humans to desire affirmation but if the girl goes overboard by truly disregarding the fella's feelings, something's not right.

well, most girls need to feel secure and find safety in a relationship, because they just seem uncapable of being alone...that is very sad.also, you say that they don't care about the dude, maybe they just can't show it.many girls are afraid of dissapointment and are reluctant to show their feelings, because most guys get freaked if girls tell them they love him or anything.and they get away.and the girl gets very very hurt.that is self-defense, playing it hard to get so that the guy doesn't lose interest.that is also sad.on both sides.also, girls want to have boyfriends so they'll have an occupation, except shopping, aquiring make-up and stuff like that, or god knows what other things they do.i'm a girl and i don't know.... :( is this sad too?? :)) anyway, if anything,i'll place my bet on their natural need for security safety and comfort.and also appreciation.it feels nice to have a female friend tell you that you look good today, but it's great if a guy tells you that.i fail to comprehend the mechanism here.cheers

Hi there,
First of all, let me correct you. Not all the girls want to have always a bf. But there are some. What are the reasons for that?
Well, there are plenty of reasons. They might be afraid of being lonely as some said. Some girls are used to have someone beside them.
There might be also a lack of confidence. Some girls are not confidence that they can do things by themselves so they tend to have someone who do the things for them.
Also, they might be socially forced to have that boyfriend. And this happens a lot in the case of teenagers where they compete to have the most handsome guy in the school ignoring whether they like him or not.
Some girls are also physiologically ill. These girls for some reasons tend to tease their parents or someone else by going out with guys that might not interesting for them but that makes the parents worried, angry or upset.
And am sure there are other reasons, but who knows them!!! Women are a sea that we can swim in but never reach the shores.

It's a status thing. Girls need so be socially accepted much more then guys do, especially at an early age.
Probably is no diagnoses except to find a girl that cares about you and not just her social status.

First of all, there are guys that do it too. Second of all, its an insecurity. There are a lot of girls that need to be with someone to feel secure about themselves. They feel like if they don't have someone who loves them, then they have nothing. Honestly I think a lot of it stems from the way they were raised, maybe they didn't have a strong father figure in their life and they are trying to make up for that emptyness by having a boyfriend.

Lack of independence. Feeling lonely or worthless if they dont have somebody to love them. Usually if a person is like this, they have a low self esteem and have to prove to everybody else that they can be loved, (really there just trying to prove it to themselves).
Think they need to go to DR. Phil LOL that might help.

"Codependancy". There's your diagnosis. Some women feel that they don't relly count or matter as a single person. They define their happiness and personality by the relationship they're in. It's a psychological security blanket. I've met men who are the same way though not nearly as many as women.

They have very low self-esteem and not many outside interests.
Hope you aren't a dude that is in a relationship with a relationship-aholic. If you are, do yourself a favor and find a girl who likes you for you and shares your interests...

Girlz are afraid of being lonely. Especially when they've reached the big 3-0. Lonliness is like a disease, but some are just bitches...

I think a lot of it is peer pressure. Their girl friends are always chatting about their b/fs and if she doesn't have one she's left out of the conversation, treated differently, and ultimately ostracized.
