My puppy husky was doing great. At night, she would wake up 2 or 3 times at night, we would take her out and she would go "potty." Then we would bring her back in and she would go to sleep in her crate (which is beside our bed). For about a week she would sleep all through the night. We were extremely excited and thought she was good to go. Wrong! She is now almost 4 months old. Last week, she has started to whine once we put her back in her crate. All this week she will wake up, we will take her out, she will go potty, and then when she is put in her crate she whines and howls. We do our best to ignore her but she will go on for 30 minutes or more before she gives up. It is almost as if she is getting worse at sleeping. We have no idea what her problem is, since she had been doing great for weeks. It is hard because we can't ignore her initial whines because she has to go potty. But once she comes back inside, we have to ignore her. Someone please help us get some sleep!

Give her Chamomile tea, to help her sleep..and reduce stress..
Chamomile tea works very well, and is safe for her. Dump it out of the teabag, and use 1 teaspoon for small breed, up to 1 tablespoon for a large breed. Mix it in a little canned food, such as Mighty Dog, or Cesar's, and give about 30 minutes before her bedtime. Then take her for a walk for a few minutes..It will keep her happy, but reduce stress, so she can sleep through the night.. It can be given as needed.
Fix you and yours a cup too! then all will get a healthy night's sleep.

You can get Chamomile Tea in your grocer's tea section.

I have a husky, and he did the same kinds of things when he was a puppy. From time to time, he still does it when he has an upset tummy. Believe it or not, she just wants to be with you. I'm not sure if you're crate training her or not, but when she comes out of her crate, she probably wants to stretch and play and run around a little while. It could also be that her tummy is upset. After you put her back in, you do have to ignore her. You may want to consider moving her crate to another part of the house so she doesn't feel the need to cry just because she knows you're right there. Eventually she will sleep all the way through the night, believe it or not.

Why do you keep her in a crate? Huskies are very sociable animals and they want to be with their pack..namely you! She sees the whining as a way to get her pack together and some affection, you have trained her to do this by letting her go potty when she whines. Try letting her sleep with the crate door open, you'll find that she will wonder for a little bit and then return to the crate to sleep. This allows her to ensure that the pack is safe.

She knows that you get up when she whines. She has figured out that even if she doesn't have to go out, she can whine & get attention and not feel alone. You can either ride it out & ignore her (she'll eventually stop when she learns you won't get up except to let her out the first time) or you can use the method we did (but its going to depend on how you feel about the role of dogs). We crate trained our Husky during the day, but at night we put him to sleep on the bed with us (by our feet). When he wanted to go out he'd jump off the bed, but because he was with us, he didn't whine if he woke up at other times during the night. He'd usually just snuggle closer and go back to sleep. Some people don't allow pets on the furniture, but my dog is my precious! Keep in mind, you will at some point have an adult Husky sleeping on the bed with you because once allowed up there, they pretty much stay! (We actually had a Husky and sheppard mix on our bed at one time!)

My 4.5 month old puppy sleeps in her wire crate located in the kitchen at night. I put soft music on the radio, a low light, she has a stuffed animal only given to her for sleep, and I cover her crate with a sheet to signify it's night time. We don't hear a sound out of her until we remove the sheet in the morning to take her out.

Try putting her in another room,, we all get up and let them out when they whine to go potty,, now pup has learned that if it whines it gets to go out,, more then likely it wont potty in crate. If it does just clean it, only way she will know if i whine i dont get let out.

Takee him to the vet. When he does this, walk over to him and gently pet him and talk to him quietly, and calmly. Give him a bone before you go 2 bed. One that will keep him busy. My dog did the EXACT same thing for about 3 months. Have you tried letting him out? Keep your door open. Mabye he does not want to be in your room? Some dogs need change. Try different things. For a few nights try just calming him. For a few nights try giving him a bone. For a few nights try letting him out. See what works best :)If this helped please rate or choose as best answer :) thanks :)

i quote you "At night, she would wake up 2 or 3 times at night, we would take her out and she would go "potty""
that right there is the problem

a dog shouldnt be waking 2 -3 times to go potty.. and if they are waking its more likely for attention (sure they may pee.. but that isnt why they are waking) and you are giving it to her - which trains her to whine for attention....
you HAVE to ignore her....at 4 months she should definately be able to wait all night - she shouldnt even have to wake up once....

remove food 4 hours before bed time - remove water 2 hours before bed time... take her out to pee/poop right before bed..

if she has to pee in the night she may have bladder infection but seriously my guess is she KNOWS how to trick you - its attention she wants - reassurance - YOU MUST IGNORE HER through the night - do not get up even once.. do not tell to be quiet.. do not tell her its ok... IGNORE HER
in the morning get up before she does to take her out.. so that you are not responding to her whining and therefore are not rewarding whining

she is getting worse at sleeping because you havent taught her to sleep through the night

leave a radio on if you must but IGNORE HER!!!!

Leave a radio on low in the room that she sleeps in. Makes them feel more secure and not so alone. worked for my puppy.

she is hungry.!!! Seeing that she is still a puppy, you might consider feeding her 2 small meals a day instead of one big one.
