Tara, I'm sorry you're so depressed. I too struggled with weight for a very long time. Today I'm happy to tell you I lost over 40lbs and I went from a size 12/14 to a size 4!!! I'm even happier to tell you that if you are truly overweight, you too can lose weight and be most importantly healthy and happy. The bad news is that I don't have a quick fix for you. I had to change my lifestyle to lose the weight, I started exercising, slowly at first and then picking it up, I also had to permanently change my diet. None of this was easy but it's truly paid off and you won't have to worry about fad diets or fluxuating weight. My regiment consisted of Running, slowly at first and picking it up, every other day I'd do push ups and situps. I could barely do a mile run, 20 situps and 10 pushups at first! It takes time and you can't get discouraged. Now I can do about 50 pushups, 80 situps and 6 mile runs! And for dieting, read labels, if you are overeating, measure your portions, drink water to help you stay satisfied, and snack healthy, DON'T cut out carbs or sugars! You will have to find a healthy balance, and don't worry you'll still be able to eat out at restraunts and things! If you need any tips! You can email me if you like okay? Just remember! YOU CAN DO IT!

Keep a lot of Calcium in your diet(milk, broccoli, suppliments). The idea is not to stop eating. When you don't eat your body thinks you are in sleep mode and won't burn caleries during the day and slows down. Eat every 2 hours, but make sure when you eat every 2 hours it is not a full meal, but a snack. (Seriously) you will cause your body to work harder and speed up your metabolism. Eat a good breakfast, then during the day every 2 hours have an fruit or a salad, or even yogurt. (Do eat Lite yogurt it isn't good for you at all). Make sure your dinner isn't too close to bed. If you eat less than an hour before bed, your body cannot digest when it is going to sleep. The food will just sit there, (That is a major weight gainer...sleeping right after you eat.) Also, NO FAST FOOD or POP. Those are a huge reason for weight gain. Go out to eat at a sit down restaurant once a month, but that's it! When you are ready, get a Pilate's DVD or Tape, (Denise Austin preferrably). It's not hard, and you don't hurt afterwards. I almost feel guilty doing Pilate's becasue it doesn't feel like excercise to me. Good luck.
(I am not some skinnny woman who always thinks she's fat. I have struggled a lot after having my kids. I find if you are up to 20 pounds over your weight, it is okay as long as you eat healthy and excercise at least 3 times aweek). I know it's hard to get down to only 20 over, and it may take long. But if you focuss and start a routine every day after 3 weeks you WILL notice a difference. And I notice when I excercise I'm in a better mood. I love to eat so I know how hard it is. So, I say, if you're going to eat something dead...meat..then eat something live with it...veggies...salad...fruit. I'll go to A restaurant and eat what I want, then get a fruit bowl afterwards. It makes a difference.
Good luck to you.

Find a nice place to start walking regularly. It will help your depression to start with. It gets your blood flowing along with the endorphines that with help your mood. I would start out with just this small change - then after about 4 weeks, try making some small changes in your diet - try to make some better food choices. The weight will start coming off a little at a time. You just have to be patient. I have found that exercising AND reducing your calories together is the best way to go. By doing one - encourages you to do the other...at least it always has me. Once I start the "watching my calories" part, I then start to question everything I put in my mouth, sort of like, "How much longer will I need to walk to work these extra calories off?" Again, try the walking part first...start off slow and then work up to a brisk walk to get your heart rate really going. Each day it will get easier. Good Luck!

First of all, diets rarely work! your main focus should be staying active, and eat smaller meals, more times through out the day. This will keep your metabolism running through out the day.
Staying on your feet longer, and getting good rest at night are also great ways to keep your wieght in check. The longer that your walking around during the day the more calories your burning, and a good nights sleep will help you do that.
Don't eat late (this is were I have the most trouble). When you eat late the food just sits in your bowels and turns into fat...ewww! I'd say a good rule of thumb is set a regular bed time and don't eat at least 3 hours before it.
The most important part though is portion control, eat tiny little bites of healthy foods (cut out the fast food) all day long. Have only one portion of meat a day, and it should only be about the size of a deck of cards (this is really hard for me also, but it's the most important). Meat is hard for your body to digest. If you eat to much meat it just sits in your stomache and rots before you can digest it (again... very gross)
I hope this helps!

Change the way you feel about yourself. Usually when depression and weight are blended together, it distorts the way you see yourself. Look at every achievement (even if it's only a quarter of a pound,) as a massive achievement. Accept yourself, love yourself anyway, and don't treat yourself like a victim of obesity. The more you allow yourself to feel like a victim, the more you will start to visualize your weight increasing. What you focus on expands, so change your vocabulary, your thought patterns, and your attitude. I've been through a similar experience, and while I know that not every solution is going to fit everyone, you can change the way you feel by approaching things from another angle. The non-victim angle.
Good luck.

Weight Watchers rocks. It really helps you change your way of eating and there are other people with similar challenges so you aren't alone in the program. I lost 24 pounds. Just find a meeting and go there. By walking you will find that your head clears and it will help with your drepression. Losing weight is hard but you are putting this out there so you've taken the hardest first step! Good luck! you are NOT alone.

I was forming this great response in my head and then I read Erica's post. Listen to her. She gives good advice.
The only thing I can really add is to make sure you are eating at a calorie defficit. Figure out how much you need to consume in a day to not change weight at all. Then subtract 500 from that number and aim for that many calories each day. (that'll drop you about a pound a week. Don't aim for more than that. It's not healthy.)

If your depressed then look your self in the mirror and say 10 good things about yourself or hang out with friends to make yourself happy. if you want to lose weight then stay off of the fatty foods like anything fried or greasy like bacon or chips and fried chicken and mcdonalds. So just stick to eating like Baked chicken and rolls, spaghetti, eggs, salad. But remember DO NOT starve yourself. Did u know that it is better to eat than skipping a meal? And if u eat breakefast like cereal it gets ur metabolism going everyday to help u maintain good weight.

first! I calculated your physique mass index (BMI), and in Australia, a BMI {BMI = weight (kg) / (top (m))^2} of 31.4 is assessed as obese. see a doctor. get a expert opinion on the problem ideally without your mom's impression. it relatively is amazingly extreme! do no longer in basic terms look at what you eat, look at what you drink. do you drink an outstanding variety of tender beverages? do you drink an outstanding variety of alcohol? in case you responded sure to the two of those, it extremely is likely your problem. replace (i won't have the ability to tension the notice 'replace' sufficient) some beverages with fruit or vege juice or if the isn't achieveable (ie. your mom won't purchase it for you) merely drink water. i be attentive to water is uninteresting whether it relatively is going to fill you up. drink an outstanding variety of water! it relatively is sturdy for you and has no fat or energy and stuff like that! it relatively is barely a initiate. get in touch with a pair of gyms (NB. do no longer provide any touch recommendations while you're merely finding around - they wont provide up calling and emailing you in any different case) ask in the event that they furnish nutritional suggestion. I quite propose commencing at a well-being club and performing some weight training with a cardio artwork (working and rowing and so on). ask in the event that they have unfastened artwork out programming. i'm in basic terms a well-being pupil no longer a doctor so refer to a doctor and if he believes my recommendations is rubbish, he's the qualified expert, take his opinion. desire this enables.

It's actually good that you can't stick to one program; that way you can switch to another before your body adapts to the physical pain of working out (that pain is a good pain).
I lost 12 pounds in three weeks. All I did was cut out fast food in my diet and went to the gym every other day for two hours straight with lots of cardio.
