I will be "celebrating" another year closer to death soon and want to know if I should do something out of the ordinary.

On my "birthday," I usually go solo beach SCUBA diving in the morning (when I make it back alive, I feel it sets the precedent for the next year), a bike ride or Jiu-Jitsu class afterwards and then get stinking drunk the rest of the day.

Any suggestions to change my routine?

Go with a buddy for a change - I think the networking is beneficial as you get closer to death. You DO want people at your wake or funeral, don't you?

bike ride is good - how about bike ride with friends?

Learn a new martial art?

THEN get stinking drunk for the rest of the day :)

I'd work on the attitude first before the routine. Maybe you should celebrate another year well spent, or one year closer to growing up!! I don't dive, but I can't imagine that its a good thing to solo dive regardless of your skill level. At the end of the day, you can't avoid a birthday any more than death or taxes, so if you have to go through it anyway, why not make it a good thing to celebrate? Try something you've always thought about trying "sometime", learn to play an instrument, make some music, try a new cuisine...unless of course you enjoy flirting with death and then getting stinking drunk, in which case, I'd say if it ain't broke don't fix it! Happy birthday!

Although that sounds pretty decent, try something different, because you have thought about it and even asked this question it means you do want to try something different but you just want other people to agree with you to give you that push. So yes mate, go all out and be different this year. I like to try something different all the time, it could end up being crap but "a faint heart never screwed a lady" as i say - no offence ladies.

Try sky-diving with some mates.

Be lucky,

McFly

set aside a hundred bucks and hit the casino play lots of stupid penny machines with names like garfield beverly hillbillies I dream of jeanie.Let the cocktail waitresses bring you lots of free drinks and live like a king for a hundred bucks. You could also get hotel somewhere. If you have any money go somewhere plan a trip. for 500$ you can have a blast in Vegas or if you like country music Branson MO Alot of these resort towns have cheap rooms awesome food, antiques ,clubs, and even affordable shows to go see.Vegas isnt just about gambling Im told theres lots of cheap or even free entertainment depending where you stay. They have white tigers and motorcycle daredevils doing some show inside a metal wheel. All sorts of music shows. If you can not afford anything hit art gallerys,Go for a bike ride, dig for clams and stop thinking about how old you are .I just saw a story about a man who is a hundred years old and refuses to quit his job as a mechanic. Are you a hundred? Life is what you make it .Make it great OH yeah his wife is 70 years old .Thats so funny..
