Yes but remember on the whole herbal preparations etc tend to take a little longer to work. Herbal tablets with Valerian in help the system cope with stress and anxiety. Vitamin B- Complex helps build up the nervous system. It may also be an idea to check out Dr Bach's Flower Essences which are safe to take and for some reason seem to work well with emotional problems. However if you are feeling really bad get professional help whether alternative or ask your Dr. to recommend a counselor.

A drug whether it's a prescription or not is still a drug. People tend to make the assumption that because it's found in nature that it's not a drug.
I don't see the problem with taking a prescription medication your doctor gave you...& this question would depend on the level of your anxiety.
I wouldn't want to be experimenting too much if you're seriously ill.

take your daily vitamins and eat a regular healthy balanced diet. cut out all caffeine and sugar from your diet (both are addictive substances that can cause anxiety and lots off excess energy that is going to wind you up). those are the best things you can do for your body and your health, physical and mental.
i have also found that exercise does wonders for burning off excess energy and anxiety. try to do at least 20 minutes a day of some kind of exercise, at least three days a week. it will really make a difference.

First thing you can do, is get rid of ANY caffeine in your diet. Caffeine is a stimulant and it will only make you feel worse.
As for herbs, Kaba and Valerian have had some positive effects in managing anxiety.
Lastly, exercise! get the happy hormones (endorphins) pumping. That's the safest, most effective way to manage anxiety and stress.
