I am an accountant and see this all the time, There are no quick fixes. But there are some things you can do. First get a copy of your credit report and dispute anything on there that is not correct, Then pay off any amounts that you can afford to pay off, try to set up payment plans with anyone who will let you and then keep those plans, be honest with what you can afford to pay. Then get a secured a credit card and use it and pay it on time. Another way to go is to try like a rent to own store and keep those payments up. It is costly to do it that way but we all have to pay for our mistakes, Good Luck just keep plugging away at the problem If you make the effort it will get better.

Get a copy of your credit report and make sure that all account that you are no longer using are closed. You need to send something in writing to each company. Take out a car loan, credit card, something small and make sure you are making your payments in a timely manner. It takes awhile to reverse the bad credit but if you work at it it can be done. Good luck

Hi rich_oldman,
Well there are many people out there that has the same problem as you. I would reccomend looking at a rebuilding credit card. The best one out there is the Orchard Bank Mastecard because it reports to the three main credit bureaus. By doing this it raises your FICO score faster. Take a look at this link and see what you think.

You can't fix it quickly. What you can do for starters is to get your credit report and understand why your credit is bad and what you can do to improve it.
