When you become a Christian, your body does not belong to you anymore to do with it what you want. You cannot tattoo either.

1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Tattoos are considered by some religions as self mutilation of the body, and since God gave you that body you are acting against His will when you mutilate it.
I personally don't have anything against them, I wouldn't get one because I wouldn't be able to donate blood and the fact that they are permanent freaks me out a bit, but hey, to each his own, there are cool tattooes out there.

tattoo is just a symbol your placing on your body, much like a flag. i cant imagine it being wrong (unless your putting something offensive/against the religion on yourself.) some religions actually use tattoos for various reasons. i cant imagine getting a tattoo of a cross being any worse then wearing a necklace with a cross on it. (that is unless somewhere down the line you change your mind, and then ur stuck with the cross on you..)

Tattoos are skin graffiti, and just like weathered graffiti on a overpass, they become worn, discolored, and in time illegible. As far as the Bible, there is a verse about your body being a temple, and it should be treated as the temple of God...but not exactly sure if that includes Permanent ink.

i don't know if religions have views on tatoos, i suppose it could be seen as self mutilation though. Tatoos can be seen as a good thing and a bad thing. Say you were hurt in an accident beyond recognition, a tatoo could help to identify you. On the other hand, tatoos could be used to identify you if you had comitted a crime. I think tatoos really are a personal choice.

I think that's a personal decision. Completely up to the individual. Be free to make your own choices. Me, personally, I couldn't get a tattoo, because I'd change my mind in 2 weeks and want something different....I'd be bored with the same tattoo for life...but that's just me...I like the way they look.....love them on other people, but I know myself very well, it's just not for me. If it's what you really want go for it and don't let anyone judge you for your decision... sorry I got so lengthy on this one! :)

The problem with tattoo is that your stuck with it, unless you can afford very expensive sugury to remove it.

I don't know of anything in the Bible which speaks against tattoo, but I suppose it depends on the tattoo you have.

Leviticus 19:28 prohibits Jews from receiving pagan tatoos, but Christians and Messianic Jews are not subject to this Law.

Peace.

not really nor are piercings in my opinion. there was a single Lady who came to Church I thought I might be interested in dating. the next week She came with rings and chains in her lip, eyebrow etc. needless to say these turned me off and i never considered her again and the same was true with a lady who had a tattoo. would be ashamed to introduce her to my family and friends but realize they have a right to have them if they so desire as this is up to them and i won't condemn their choice but as for me I will never date or marry a Lady who has either which is my choice.

Man, Tattoos came from early man and they seem to appreciate life more than most people of today. Creativity is god's language in my opinion
