My twin sister uses it.. the thick and full, and loves it. I use Dove's volumizing shampoo and condition. Nothing to lose if you try it... or either brand. We have both found the results we were looking for, for thin hair.

I am so glad you asked!! I actually got my hair cut yesterday, and if you had asked the day before, I wouldn't have had a clue!! My hairdresser said, the worst shampoo you can use is Pantene. She said in hairdressing school they showed her that Pantene has a large amount of wax in their products, which gives it that great shine. What happens is the wax builds up and builds up and causes your hair to break more often. Giving you tons of split ends.
Remember you never need a lot of shampoo... so just go to the hairdressers, get a good hair analysis and they will tell you what to buy. Two things to remember, don't get advise from someone who is older (outdated info) or someone from a low end salon. Go all the way!! Get it done right. Buy the really good shampoo, and only use a little each day. I buy the good stuff, and it lasts me forever, and I have very long hair. Just a quarter size is all you need, no more. And that bottle will last you for a long time!!
Good luck!!

When I worked in market research, many people really prefered Pantene. But I have oily hair, too - I like Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Special shampoo. That leaves my head tingly & my hair squeaky clean. If it is too expensive, go to a beauty supply store & get the generic version of it.
Then, I use Pantene conditoner.

I use Pantene and find it to be an excellent product, but I do not have oily hair. One reason you may be experiencing hair loss is because of your oily hair. You should find a product that will work for your particular hair problems and I have listed 3 web sites below that should help you.
Hair Articles To Help Pick Hair Products:
Hair Care, Dandruff, Dry Hair, Shampoos, Conditioners, Oily Hair, ... dry hair, dry scalp, oily hair, oily scalp, thinning hair and even hair loss. Here is the web site:
http://www.healthyhairplus.com/articles/index.htm
The Doctors Book of Home Remedies Oily Hair
... the fatty "oil" in oily hair. The more hair, the more oil glands, and the more oil ...
The web site gives advice on how to treat Oily Hair. You should definitely read this page for specific recommendations. Here are just 2 excerpts:
1) Shampoo frequently.
Our experts agree that the most important thing you can do to combat an excessively oily scalp is to shampoo once a day, particularly if you live in a city environment. When summer heat and humidity stimulate your scalp's oil glands, shampooing twice a day may be advisable, says Lowell Goldsmith, M.D., a professor of dermatology and chairman of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry who specializes in hair disorders.
"The sebaceous glands are producing oil continuously," he says. "What you're essentially trying to do is keep up with the secretion and remove it."
2) Choose a see-through shampoo.
"Clear, see-through shampoos tend to have less goo in them," says Dr. Goodman. "They clean away oil better, without leaving a residue behind."
Here's the web site:

Healthy Hair Growth - Hair Loss And Sebum
In many cases, the cause of hair loss for both men and women is excessive buildup of sebum on the scalp. Sebum is the oil secreted and discharged by the sebaceous glands. When untreated, sebum buildup can cause baldness. Here's the web site:

Good Luck!

sounds really wierd but, I can tell you from experiencing what you have been through this proceedure works.
1. look into the ethinic hair line products for what is called "cholestorol". use this on your hair 2-3 days a week.
2. get a fortifying with moisture shampoo (i have found Tresemme' with vitamin E to work the best)
3. get a fortifying with moisture conditioner (again, Tressemme' with fortifying and rebuilding is the best I have found)
4. do steps 3 & 4 once a day, over washing and conditioning can have adverse effects on hair over the long run. washing in the morning is the best.
5. before bed twice a week take some of the conditioner onto dry unwashed hair (you can wash your hair in the morning that is fine) and brush/comb it into your hair. leave it in overnight (do not use the spray leave on conditioners they do not offer the same effect) wash your hair the next morning with shampoo and condition it after washing. you will feel and see the difference after a few treatments.
6. look at your diet, eating more protein products, taking vitamin supplements especially vitamins A, E & D will help rebuild your hair, plus it is also really good on your skin.
7. avoid using heated styling products for 30 days (blow dryers, curling/flat irons.
8. avoid using any chemicals in your hair for 6 weeks (perms, hair coloring, straightening and even lice treatments)
9. avoid using styling aides for 14-30 days depending on severity of damage (hair sprays, mousse, gels, styling creams ect)
10. use a brush or comb made from natural fibers and not plastic, it may cost some but in the long run its worth it. find a brush that has a lot of bristles to it and spaced close together this will help to keep your hair protected. also brush your hair before bed. this will spread the natural oils that have built up in your hair from the day throughout your hair which will strenthen it.
I hope this helps you out some. It worked for me, and I had a really bad case of going bald.

I have been using Pantene for years, and I have tried others too for comparison. I really like the Pantene line and my hair is quite healthy so there haven't been any bad side effects from using it. As for hair loss, I am not sure that Pantene is for treating hair loss specifically, but I know it hasn't caused any undue loss in my hair. I have recently tried their new Ice line and I love it too.
If you have oily hair, I would use their shampoo for oily hair rather than any other type, because oily hair can contribute to a host of other hair problems, including hair loss, but if you are concerned about hair loss you should see your doctor or dermatologist. Keep in mind though, that some hair loss is very natural and in fact helps to maintain a healthy head of hair.
It also makes a difference how often you wash your hair. For oily hair you most likely should wash it every day, but my hair on the other hand, dries out if I wash it every day. Every other day works for me. From personal experience, I highly recommend the Pantene line of products, but, everyone's hair is different. Unless medically contraindicated, you should give it a shot and see how you like it and how your hair/scalp reacts to it. Pantene also has a line of finishing products that you can apply to towel dried hair, before blow drying it. They help protect your hair cuticles from heat damage. Good luck!

My hair dresser told me the same thing about Pantene ( the wax ) . I never really loved it anyway. I would ask your stylist ( or any stylist ) to recommend a good daily shampoo for oily hair. Also ask them about a peppermint deep cleansing shampoo that you use a couple of times a week if you have oily hair or use lots of products. Sorry I can't remember the name of it but it is great for really deep cleaning your hair.

My hair is pretty normal. When I used Pantene it made my hair very oily and shiny. But some of my friends have used it and love it. It really depends on your type of hair.
Shampoos that i like:
Dove
Tresemme
Suave
Herbal Essense
John Frieda (the color line)

I would wash my hair at night with the Panetene shampoo and conditioner and by next day at mid day it would look oily. But you could just apply the conditioner to the ends for a less oiled down look. Just buy a bottle and see what it does for you. Its not that big of an investment!

May hair is oily, fine and a pain in the butt. I have two natural curls that come out and drive me insane. I've found that the Pantene Restoratives anti-frizz does wonders for my hair. It keeps it perfectly manageable for me. I have never heard about that other stuff.
