I don't know whos idea it was in the first place to spend $50,000 on a wedding but that is crazy. For goodness sakes... have a small wedding and split the rest on a house and the honeymoon.
I think it is crazy people think that weddings got to cost a small fortune to be memorable.... and I am female... WOW I must be rare.

Justice of the peace is a very generic setting. I would say spend about $3,000, get married in a chapel in Vegas, spend a few days there for a Honeymoon and then use the remaining $47,000 for the downpayment on the house.

I would rather spend most of it on a house, and have a small wedding. Weddings are important but so is your future and haveing a house is very important. If I had the choice that is what I would do. Good Luck!!!!

JOP all the way!! We went to Jamaica and spent $5,000 for a week, got a free wedding and honeymoon all in one, then rented a NC outer banks huge beach house for $3,000 for another week, had all the relatives out, was a blast. Then came home and moved into to the new house we just bought (put $30,000 down). Worked great for us!!

Let's compromise.... $3,000 for a wedding on a beach in the Bahamas and the rest for the house down payment.

A House of course. Weddings are just for a day . You live in a house everyday.

Wouldn't need a house, I just bought one for myself. I don't plan to have a huge wedding anyway...so I'd invest it.
