There's no cure, but with good medication and good therapy you can learn to handle it. The problem with some people who are bi-polar is that when they are feeling good, they don't take their medication and then they go uncontrolled making it worse. I knew a girl with bi-polar disorder. What a mess she was--she only took her meds when she felt like it.

Medication likely for the rest of ones life (Lithium etc) unless science can devise a way to rebalance the imbalance of chemicals within the brain that cause BiPolar illness. Things such as psychoanalysis, psychiatric sessions etc are only a coping mechanism for those who are itrying to become balanced through trials of different meds to determine what works. Some bipolars don't adjust well to certain meds early on. However, there is not a cure at this time for bipolar illness.

Some people say no, and medication is the only way. I'm bipolar and so is my son of 16yrs old. But no one ever looks at the natural ways of cures; they would loose money to all that medication!! Please see the link below, seriously!!!!! There are natural ways for some.... other than this there is also St. Johns Wort for natural usage.

Or you can take alot of years trying to find the right meds to take that will be effective for you. I don't like being the governments guine pig! I like natural, all the way. I love my son and myself to much to let him or myself live that way!
Here's a link for diet and info to make things yourself at home to eat that is helpful...

Unfortunately there is no current known cure, I have been diagnosed with Bipolar NPS never the less it is manageable. Here is a very good website you can refer to if you have any other questions. The woman's name is Julie Fast and she is phenomenal in her quest as a person living with Bipolar to assist all of us and those we love to deal with the ever growing chemical imbalance.

No cure, but there are great medications out there that will normalize the chemical imbalance in the brain. Talk to a psychiatrist.

I now someone who had intensive psychotherapy after being diagnosed. His bipolar disorder got worse then it got much better. He now has mood swings but has not been hospitalised for 11 years, and has come off his lithium.
