1.There isn't enough water to do that. 2.The earth cannot be totally submerged, so it's futile to speculate about this. 3.There are over 3,000,000 species, and they'd need to be on the Ark. The logistics of loading such a group are too formidable to be real. 4. In cubits, it was about 450 feet long, but even then, it couldn't hold examples of all animals. Imagine Noah trying to build such a huge boat! 5.There would be a problem with lions, etc. eating other animals. 6.Ham is often said to be the ancestor of the Hamites of Ethiopia. 7. I haven't heard this one, but it's not surprising. Bishop Ussher said creation was in 4004BC, so that leaves little time for the races to develop. If people were exterminated later, that leaves even less time. The whole tale is just a copy of the Sumerian tale of Utnapishtam and makes no sense logically or scientifically. There is no geological evidence of a world flood, and an ark made only of wood would collapse in the sea.

Ok, hon, have a seat. This is going to take some time to answer. For starters, all my answers are from a Catholic POV. I have little to no knowledge of other religions and cannot speak for them.
It is supposed to be forty days and nights (plus the time it took for the water to receed). Logically, it was not every animal on earth. The bible isn't the only source for flood stories. The Greeks and Egyptians have flood stories, as I am sure does every mythology/religion/culture on earth. It was probaby some great flood in the world and the animals native to that region were on board the ark (though not a flood through the whole world).
1. It would take a lot of water to flood the earth, but not as much to flood parts of the earth.
2. Evaportation depends on the climate.
3. No clue
4. Noah's Ark's measurements are in the bible. I forgot what they were (something like 300 cubic feet)
5. I would think the animals would be segregated
6 and 7 Please refer back to the fact that flood myths exist all around the world.

1. There can never be another worldwide flood, so don't even worry about that. God gave the rainbow as a promise that it would never happen again.
2. See above
3. There definitely weren't as many species as there are today, but I'm sure there were still more than we can even imagine.
4. Look in Genesis in the Bible. It gives the measurments of the Ark.
5. If the animals had been eating each other, a lot more would have went extinct...obviously God kept them from having that problem.
6. Not exactly. But one went down into what is now Africa....so
7. No, she wasn't. They were all middle eastern...but as his sons branched off they became accustomed to their surroundings and that's how the skin colors changed.
For the most accurate account of the story...read the Bible.

This will be a hot topic. People get really upset when others question their religion, but since you asked opinions here's mine. The bible is not to be taken literal. Otherwise, you could beat your son to death with a stone if he ever disagreed with you. I think (again, just my opinion) that the Ark was indeed built by a person who had faith. It was used to save as many animals and people IN THAT REGION, who were also willing to believe. It was probably a huge flood and there was much destruction (thoughts of Katrina here) and only the believers were saved. I don't believe the entire Earth flooded. Good luck with this question. Sorry if I offended anyone.

1. Before the flood, the whole earth was surrounded by one huge encompassing water canopy. This came down as one gigantic rain that filled all the oceans, rivers and water basins.
2. It took around a year for the flood waters to dissipate and land masses to start to appear. (You must remember that this huge, heavy flood, changed greatly the earthly landscape, even causing such things as the Grand Canyon, and high mountain peaks).
3. There were 2 of every unclean animal and 7 of every clean animal - of every KIND. That means: only 2 dogs, 2 horses, etc...2 of every kind, not 2 of every subspecies that can inter-mate and have offspring.
4. The ark was about 2 football fields in length - with 3 floors.
5. No doubt, Jehovah, had a hand in keeping all the animals at bay and at peace with each other. They were probably divinely kept docile during this period.
6. The whole human family comes from Noah and his 3 sons. The black race came from Ham, the Semitics from Shem, and the Euopeans, IndoEuropeans and Orientals from Japheth.
7. Noah and his wife were of the same racial background - but after the 3 sons went their separate ways, they formed racial groupings where they settled in the world.
Do read the Bible. It's a fascinating book!

It rained for 40 days and the underground waters swelled up for 150 days.
The world is +- 8,000 miles diameter. It flooded about 28 feet above the mountain tops. Figure about 1/2 to 1 mile in height. Multiply 8000 x pie (3.14) , 8001 x pie subtract the difference; Voila !
All the animals that survived.
The carnivores were segregated.
Size 300 x50 x 30high cubits 3 floors
Cubits = 48 Centimeters
Noah and family were told to abstain from sex. ( the whole world is suffering and you're not feeling their pain? ) "Chom" didn't comply and G' turned him black.
(The Talmud teaches those who mock or degrade someones appearance, mocks his maker; G')
There weer no nationalities or regions then.
AMAZING ANYONE WHO IS AGAINST THE BIBLE GETS THUMBS UP, AND ANYONE PRO BIBLE/G' GETS THUMBS DOWN.
WHERE'S THE INTELLECTUAL HONESTY?

Hindus scriptures Vedas which are oldest holy scriptures on Earth also describes Noah's story from where most probably it was adopted in another religions. In Hindu scriptures, its Manuh instead of Nauh. Word Man is derived from this "Manu".
So to read real complete story with full understanding and with all answers you will have to read Hindu scriptures.

Go to Genesis chapters 6-10 in the Bible. It has all the info you want. It would take way too long to type out all the answers you want as it takes 4 whole pages in the Bible to list all that info. Good luck and good reading.
