I called the recruiter last Friday and she advised the company was very impressed but they were going to interview 1 other candidate this week. She asked me to call her by today if I haven't heard from her this week.

But if I had the job, I would have heard from her right? Should I just assume I don't have it? I don't feel like being rejected today.

I called and the recruiter said the managers were unable to meet with the other candidate this week. They are meeting on Monday afternoon instead. So all of you were right in advising me to call. It was the right thing to do.
(I did send thank you notes to the managers last week, -but not to the recruiter, oh well)

Thanks to everybody for the encouragement!!

Yes you should definitely call. Rejection is a part of looking for a job. You can deal with it. When you call, be sure to tell her thank you for the interview. Be encouraged. You will find what you are looking for if you keep looking.

If you are not working with your local State Job Service you may want to go there and be assessed. They usually help people find jobs and deal with rejection also.

Sometimes an employer is waiting to see who is most interested in the job - So if you truly are interested in this position, by all means call! If they tell you that the job was given to the other candidate, don't feel too bad, just continue your search. But call with a good attitude, thinking that you may be selected for this position, or if the company has multiple positions, maybe for another in the future.

Honey, no, don't assume anything. Hiring someone involves lots of signatures and paperwork, plus get stuff set up for you. Call her for the status of your application, it shows interest in the job. Sound excited to get in touch with her, be gracious. Also, you should have sent a THANK YOU letter, expressing your appreciation for the interview... that will put you above the other person in case she/he is also a good fit for the job. You always have to do the extra step.

Why not? you see these ppl are preety busy all the time..and keep on forgetting to call the selected candidates...just give them a call and ask them ,if they ask you to call laterz or say that they shall call you next week..wait for a week and call them back till you get the job.

P.S In the meantime since you have some time in your hands, try for some other better jobs..who knows you might get lucky.

All the best.

The recruiter perhaps is still awaiting word from the company. Keep in mind that when you use job placements, there is a lot of negotiating regarding fee, salaries, and other matters. They may in fact be ironing out the final details. I would however suggest that you contact the recruiter immediately.

just take a deep breath and call! what is the worst that could happen? they say you didn't get it. and if you didn't get the job ask them what you could do better the next time you have an interview. but there is a lot of paper work that has to go on, they have to check your references, background check, (which can take a week) credit history etc. so don't be discouraged!

in case you experience that the interview went that properly then by utilising all skill provide them a decision lower back and verify on your status with them. on an identical time thank them on your different interviews which you had with them. this we could them be responsive to which you enjoyed the interview and which you're nonetheless involved in working for them.

by all means check up on the interview.....but only once....do not harass them. I am a former hr person and I sometimes needed reminding and it also let me know who is pro-active about getting a job. More often that not those who are desperate to get the job did not work out........so follow up, but no more than once.
