Whenever I go to the start menu and click on shut down then standby and then after some time touch on any key on the keyboard or move the mouse, the computer (WindowsOS) comes on but the screen remains dark although it is also on. What is the problem?

are you SURE that the computer actually resumes? coz there are two standby settings - one that allows the computer to resume when u move the mouse or press a key AND the other resumes the computer when you hit the power button on the cpu..
if you are sure that the computer actually resumes by the keyboard/mouse activity then check for the monitor power settings in cpanel or contact the vendor u purchased your system

unplug all your devices except the bare neccessary, trigger standby. If it fails, nothing to do with external devices but your software/mainboard devices. Replug external devices 1 at a time, triggering Standby. Find the culprit device.

you shouldnt put your computer in standby mode due to the fact that alot of devices have trouble trying to resume from standby mode.
